Here's the scenario. Someone posts a topic on a particularly provocative subject. Somebody who has a legitimate reason to be very upset flies off the handle at the OP in said thread. What do you do? I'm looking for answers from both of ya

Close the topic firstly, to stop things getting even more out of control, try to see if there was anything of the topic that could work out as a valid discussion and if there was reopen and invisi anything that needed to be. I suppose, unless the first person knew it would cause that reaction from the second person, and they did it on purpose then it was in no way their fault. They have every right to make topics about any subject, as long as it stays within the rules.

As for the second person, well, try to talk to them and explain that people can make topics on any subject as long as it's within the rules, as well as possibly trying to calm them down if they're upset/angry/whatever. Also have to explain to them that even if it affects them so badly, they can't react that way on the boards without there being consequences.

If the subject was up to the standards of the board and posted in a tasteful manner I would leave it open. As for the second person who flies off the handle I would invis the post and suggest to them that they stay out of the topic.

Exception to the above. If there is history between the two people and the topic is clearly flame bating I would close the topic and hand out a war the the OP for Flame bating.
