Whatever you are most comfortable with, and whichever suits your needs.

Technically the best is the best for you. XP would be a good one...tho Im very partial to 2k Pro (like a rock!) Tho I just recently stopped running it due to my new quad core proc. rofl.gif

I use a Mac. I warn you though if you're a gamer, do not get a Mac. The simplicity of a mac (for most things anyway) is awesome, but if you're gonna be a gamer in the long run, get a PC.

I use XP, XP ftw! I think mac's are computers for people who work a lot with audio and video related projects, other then that... there's no point in getting it other then for its looks.

Eww Vista. I keep getting winExplorer errors. Yesterday, it didn't even restart, it just closed. I navigated for 4 hours without a bottom bar. Just alt + tabbed to get to different windows. Disgusting memory hog.

Ubuntu is just as user friendly. I like it.

Macs have no advantage, they're really for people who already love Macs. Ubuntu is the friendliest of the Linuxes, all the Linuxes are better quality than Windows, but Windows has the advantage of most of everything being designed for Windows. XP is the most stable of the Windows versions that are still fully up to date.

I've got to say how impressed I am by NeoCodex. In my 4 years on the net I've seen this discussion many many times, and this was the only time it didn't immediately turn into a giant pissing contest between Mac users and PC users, or Linux geeks and Windows users/victims.

But you can also dual boot now with boot camp. Thats what I plan on doing using the mac side for school work and what not and then the pc side for gaming.

Get Vista. Oh and btw to all you XP fans, it was recently taken off the market. They don't sell it no more

So get Vista obviously, but if your looking for a free OS, just get Ubuntu Linux, it's basically the most user-friendly version of Linux out there, but the GUI sucks big ****

You can still downgrade to XP if you want.

I love Windows Vista because it includes all the drivers, sound drivers, ethernet etc.
With Windows XP, you have to search for them on the internet.

I think you can get Windows XP downgrade really cheap at the moment because Vista is taking over.

I recommend Vista if your computer hardware is fast enough, if not, then XP.
