Told her how she may be able to fix it on msn, not 100% sure if it'll work though.

That wouldn't renew the DNS cache which would seem to be the problem this time...

DNS cache has nothing to do with the user though... i know this has happened to a few people but i'm thinking it's only happening to people that used to come here on the old server since it's never happened to me. It's a strange one alright...

DNS and OpenDNS have nothing to do with a user. The DNS is an intermediate step between translating a hyperlink into an actual internet address. By installing OpenDNS you overrule a domain's default DNS and use OpenDNS to translate the hyperlink instead.

Anyways like Sida said it's fixed...

You forgot the caps lock, calling me a racist, and telling staff to ban me... oh, and while you're at it, you might as well fake some MSN logs. tongue.gif

My bad Waser... i think you're probably right. I didn't realise windows stores its own DNS cache. Perhaps clearing the cache would fix the problem?

actually, DNS can be sort of user related (it's not a global intermediate step, as in, it's all about your ISP) if your ISP hasn't updated the DNS details then there's no way you will be able to see it - the odd thing is that most ISPs refresh their DNS tables every 24 hours, so i don't understand why these people are having issues with it.

I've been told that there are some issues in Vista, that you need to manually clear your DNS cache occasionally so maybe they are vista users - but personally, i was converted to openDNS ages ago, and i love it, it's a lot more reliable than anywhere i know - and if you've updated your nameservers, you can go to the openDNS website and request that they refresh the settings for a specific URL

Can you actually notice a difference in speed using OpenDNS? Why is OpenDNS more reliable than using a default DNS?

since i started using openDNS i have not had a single DNS failure that was not due to the website actually being down.

i doubt there's much of a speed issue

The only thing which I find annoying about OpenDNS is that it doesn't recognise http://premierleague.com as the same as http://www.premierleague.com. tongue.gif

that's probably because premierleague.com isn't on the DNS tables, and the site relys on the browsers to get the DNS fail and add www (just a guess tho)

Easy enough to fix with a hosts entry though. tongue.gif Saves me the 0.5secs it takes to type in the www. biggrin.gif
