Once an offer has been accepted then the trade should be closed. Leaving it open would remove...or lower the possibility of people being able to get good deals. Being able to possibly get things cheaper because the seller is a noob makes it much more interesting

KK grr ill win this too kitsune:
ill expalin fully i gotta run to the gym.
One main reason. More money for the trade starter. Another this isn't neopets as in the item/pet doesnt go right away to the user when he accepts. The trader can retain the item and do whatever the heck he wants till the last second therefore there will be no staff interaction involved. (Btw it'll be neopets leader messin with this only) No matter if the user can't accept something else doesn't mean he has to send it to that guy. He can just wait your 24 hour time out and then get other offers and thats annoying as heck. Put yourself in the sellers shoes.
Ill explain more when i come back

Shouldn't this be in the neopets section?

Kitsune's idea seemed like the smartest, tbh.

I think Kitsune's idea is better, but I see where Noit is coming from. But if I were to be offering on something, then see it's accepted, then wait 20 hours to find out it wasn't, I'd be mad

I like Kitsune's method better. It's really an ethical dilemma. You choose to agree to a trade, or a job offer, and you should stick to it.
Leaving it open ended for more offers would just make the whole process take longer. :\

Put yourself in the sellers shoes. why care if it does take longer, you get more money. Can't prevent the dirtiness.

Can't prevent that

But, would you rather wait that long then find out that they accepted someone else? At least with my method it's only because of some problem that a trade doesn't go through, say one person gets frozen between offering and the offer being accepted. Or something like that. Just means that if need be, there's an option to re-open the trade, but it still ensures people wait until they're actually certain they want to accept the trade.
You dont wait at all. The NeoPostBot instantly informs the person that they've been rejected.
Say the accepter made a mistake accepting something. He'll be peeved to go request a mod to open it up. Rather instantly, accept the other offer.
Now you can't prevent dirty trading. A user will just PM them another offer and he'll accept it and now the system logs are screwed up. And can't be changed without staff intervention. And we want instantness.
Lastly my method is true to the wiki methodology hydrogen is trying to implement.
Kitsune why the heck did you move... i didnt explain in bullet format
Closed and moved to neopets
