Anyone here ever participated in an online high school? SC has 2 of them, and I'm looking into the Insight School. They give you a laptop + printer to use for schoolwork, and they have full state standards and all. I may have my last 2 years of HS there; not waking up at 6 every morning would be great =P

That's one of the main reasons I want to do it - I want to work faster than my school allows.

The only reason I wouldn't do it is because of lack of interaction with people. tongue.gif

Next year my state is requiring the class of 2013 and on to take one online course to graduate

That'd only be a slight problem for me - most everyone around here's a snob and preppy rich 1we8.gif (Yay for living 25 feet into this district dry.gif)

That's one way to cut their teacher salary budget tongue.gif

Ask for a transfer before your school year ends
over here they let you file for a transfer to any other school in the city as long as you have guaranteed transportation to and from/ blah blah

The only other district I could go to doesn't allow out of area students (Out of area is anything not in the district, no matter how close you are to the line)

And I can't lie, because it's state law that we provide proof of residency w/ parent's name on it. 1we8.gif

I could transfer to District 3-7, but they're all at least a 25 minute commute (That's a lot for here xD)

If you have any relatives in district you can say you've been having arguments with your parents and you're living with those relatives for now. 1we8.gif
What some of my friends did. Dunno if you'll get sent to some shrinks or something though

Our guidance counselor's are fail tongue.gif

That's a good idea, though; I'll talk to my parents and see if I can transfer. On Spring Break right now, so I'll have the rest of the week to bug 'em about it.

Yeah cause my friend used to live behind the school (literally like 30 feet away) and he was in another district
so he had to say he was living with his grandma so he could come to our school

I did Keystone National High School for my Junior/Senior year. It's way easy and awesome you just have to motivate yourself! Good luck!

Online High School is a great way to get ahead, but you'll definitely miss out on social experiences.

If you're not planning on having any people skills, and want to get the hell out of there, I'd say go for it.

I graduated (with a diploma, not a GED) from a school like that....although I didn't do anything online for HS...they just sent me text books and I'd take a few tests. It was fun, and I enjoyed it. I'm also (as most of you know) going to college online, so it can be done, you just need to stay motivated. Its very tough to say "oh, I'll do that tomorrow" and then put it off for quite awhile.
