They were a fairly revealing couple of words.

Besides, I can't help but notice that you didn't reply to my own response.
Can't think of anything?

I was offering you advice. Its usually a good idea to grow up when you reach your late teen years, and pokemon, even though I was a fan of them when I was younger, are for kids. If you really don't want to grow up, there really isn't anything I can do about it, is there?

Isn't that exactly what the intention was of your original post? To put down another person, in this case Sunscorch?

See above. It was advice.

So advice doesn't need to have valid reasoning behind it?
What a peculiar world you must live in.

Also, I'm not in my late teens.

What are you talking about? Of coarse advice doesn't need a reason behind it. You either follow the advice given or don't - If you disagree with the advice given it shouldn't matter where it came from or the reasoning behind it. Just ignore it.

According to your profile, you are twenty-one years of age, making you old than your late teens.

So do you want to keep on arguing with me or will you just set aside the fact that I said something you did like and just ignore it?

Incredible. You don't think advice requires an argument behind it.
You don't see that advice with backup is more likely to be followed than a bald assertion?
How is anyone supposed to make an informed decision without reasoning?

And yes, according to my profile, my birth certificate, and reality, I am 21. Older than late teens, but not late teens, which is what you mistakenly assumed.

Yes, I want to keep arguing with you, because as we carry on, your position becomes both increasingly untenable, and steadily more idiotic, which I find greatly amusing.

Did I ever say I wanted you to follow my advice? Not once did I ever say that. Thus I don't need much of a reason to offer you proof on why you must grow up. Right?

    Yes, that was a mistake.

Ok lets keep arguing. I find it hard that you would waste your time arguing with me, but keep wasting. It's bothersome but I'll continue anyways.

Oaken, where are you to input a idiotic statement into this argument when we need one?!?!

Next time you're bored, I suggest you try examining your preconceptions to see if they actually hold up to scrutiny.
That way, you won't look like so much of a tool the next time you share them with someone with more than half a brain.

Okay, this is what I don't get, why is childish to collect Pokemon figures?
I mean Otakus collect eroge/anime figures, and since they're more "adult" it's
just geeky and not childish. It's just figures... I mean, if he collected
Warhammer figures would that still be childish?

I collect magic cards, does that make me a childish person or geek? No, I just
like the art on magic cards, and I'm a designer, so that's my reasoning.
I also find the game very mentally challenging, more fun than playing chess.

I don't think it's right to call him childish for liking to collect something,
its the same as any other collector, just because he doesn't collect stamps
or coins, doesn't means he needs to grow up.

I'm 19 and I read doraemon because its good, nothing to do with childishness,
I've been reading it since I was 7, and I still like the series because its
creative and innovative, and certainly better than 18+ manga that just revolves
around senseless killing that really does get old... For your information,
I read pretty much EVERY genre and age group; I read ero too, because its got
the best art despite having really shallow and sadistic stories (which I avoid).

Don't know if you've played Prototype, but that game is violence to the max,
sure loved hacking people apart for awhile, then it got boring. I mean, things that
are classified as "grown up" can get boring real quick. Perhaps I should
go to a shooting range? I'm pretty sure I'd get bored of that eventually too.

Let me use a more practical example, camera "freaks", I know many of them
that don't use it for a professional use, and spend 10 grand easy on camera+lenses,
now these people are probably more fanatic than a pokemon figure collector. I use
my camera for professional uses, and spent 2000 for my most expensive lens, does
that somehow justify this that so called hobby because I'm using it for pro?

Be a little more open-minded and don't just others just because of some
hobbies they got, you probably have hobbies and habits you don't want to talk
about, in fact, everyone has some sort of hobby, maybe not collecting things.
I think hes better off brave enough to announce his hobbies without shame,
    that's my take on that.

Pokemon were made to target a certain audience - children. I believe that is one of the first things you do when you make a new product or launch a new site is define your audience. He is childish for collecting pokemon for that reason.
And yes, everyone has hobbies. His just happens to be aimed at more childish things than other people.

As for your camera nonsense - you use your camera for things. You take pictures, possibly sell those pictures. Some people make a living out of it. I doubt you can make a living from collecting pokemon figures. Why? Cause, as you could see in the video, they do nothing but collect dust.

Obviously, things have a core demographic. That doesn't mean that people outside that core demographic aren't allowed to enjoy the product.
FPSs are generally aimed at male gamers between 16 and 35. Does that mean that any girls who play FPSs are, in fact, men?

And you're right, I can't make a living from collecting figures. I do make a fair bit of money by selling ones that I don't keep after I import them, though.

I just thought I would point out he doesn't have the mind to download a simple application called firefox that has spell check integrated into the browser.

I do use firefox. I don't use the spellchecker, because for the most part, my spelling is impeccable, and I make typos rarely.

You have a strange definition of "addressing the point" if you think that posting an inane platitude forms an argument.
I said that. But specifically, I said willfully ignorant people are small minded morons. An important distinction.

Magma, to believe that ones own views are the only possible belief, and to look down on those who enjoy different things to yourself is not only ignorant but childish and hypocritical (you're on a neopet cheating forum for christs sake).

I can only laugh at your final statement there. I'd bet a hell of a lot of money on Joe becoming a more successful, productive and useful member of society than you will ever hope to become.

Who are you to judge how successful I am in society? You know absolutely nothing about me. I am on a neopets cheating site, however that is not what I use the site for. Don't assume I enjoy neopets because I am here, that is a foolish thing to do.

Obviously, things have a core demographic. That doesn't mean that people outside that core demographic aren't allowed to enjoy the product.

I wasn't saying that only the demographic the product is designed for is allowed to use the product; I said that pokemon were designed for children, and by collecting them, it is a childish thing to do. Anyone can collect pokemon, but it happens to be a childish thing to do; that doesn't mean it isn't allowed.

I am addressing the point that you post. I have been following up everything you say, which happens to be out argument about the point.

This is my definition of failure, for a person that is: a person or thing that proves unsuccessful: He is a failure in his career. The cake is a failure.
    Is it really that odd?

But it's ok for you to call me a failure when you have the exact same level of knowledge of me?
    Extraordinary hypocrisy.

I wasn't saying that only the demographic the product is designed for is allowed to use the product; I said that pokemon were designed for children, and by collecting them, it is a childish thing to do. Anyone can collect pokemon, but it happens to be a childish thing to do; that doesn't mean it isn't allowed.

And I believe my original response to that was "So what?".

I am addressing the point that you post. I have been following up everything you say, which happens to be out argument about the point.

No, you're not. Addressing the point involves bringing up a supported counter argument, not just making bare-faced assertions in the hope that no one will call you on them.

This is my definition of failure, for a person that is: a person or thing that proves unsuccessful: He is a failure in his career. The cake is a failure.

Your definition doesn't apply to me, so attempting to use it to describe me is a bit odd, yes.
