This is the first movie we get to see of Blomkamp, some of his future movies include the Halo movie.

Some of his previous work is the citroén advert with the dancing robot car

It was a great movie, one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It's also pretty ridiculous that they only spent 30 million on a movie like that and then there's all these other shitty movies that cost around 100 million and such.

Just got home from seeing this and it was awesome. Probably the best movie I have seen this year...and I have seen a lot of movies this year :p.

There is easily room for a sequel as well *crosses fingers*

Yea, I read somewhere that if this movie does well then they were going to make a sequel. I'm going to assume they'll do a sequel then since this movie has been very successful since it was released.

Saw this like a month ago, and loved it. I figured there was bound to be a metaphor somewhere in there about the apartheid, and not surprisingly I later found out about district 6.

I can't wait for the sequel. Since there was technically no closure to the movie, it's inevitable (or have they finally actually announced their plans for a sequel?)

He talks about it there, interesting that they could possible do a prequel also.

It's much more realistic that way though, don't you think? I'm tired of movies where the main character just happens to meet someone where he has to describe everything that went before-hand lol.

The sequel will be called District 10 xD any bets?

I hated the name of X-2 it made me so angry lol, Good game though :)
I'm glad they made a sequel to X, it was the second best final Fantasy

Should've done a VII-2 though lol I mean they made a movie.

But back on topic, Judging by District 9, the Halo Movie will be awesome xD

It was alright. Tbh I thought some of the special effects were lacking, but other than that it was decent. Story was somewhat predictable and it could've gone more in-depth on the aliens.

District 10 seems like an appropriate sequel name... seeing how it was mentioned right in the end "monologue"

And here's a question: Will it be another Peter Jackson film, or will another director take over?

saw it bootleg too, i found the beginning to be rather slow, but the end made up for it, you can tell it was set up for a sequel, so seeing one in a year or two should not surprise anyone.

District 9 was a great movie, and I feel it was well set up for a sequel. Do you guys think that in 3 years we'll have a sequel where he comes back?

Fook.

I saw it the other night. not too bad!

And heres a bit of info behind the movie:

The director was the same guy who was in charge of making the Halo movie. Once that fell through, he still had a reported $30 million or so (probably more) to play around with. Thus, District 9 was born. That's why a lot of the guns in D-9 look similar to Halo guns.

Also, the shacks and everything that they filmed in were real. The population that lived there was being relocated during the filming of the movie. A cost-effective set, I suppose :p

Legit movie. It is comparable to those big, hyped Hollywood films.

Amazing movie. Not every movie has to depend solely on action to be good ;)
