Only really knew her from 8 Mile. It's always hard when someone so young passes away.

Hahaha. Okay okay, so there's more than one difference between deaths of famous people and the rest of us.
Alls I'ma sayin' is this year isn't any different than last year or 2007 when it comes to celebrities dying. They die every year.

Of course, one could argue 2006 was the saddest year of celebrity deaths because that's when the loveable Don Knotts died.

I think this year has just stuck out more than others due to who died and how they died, exactly. Like no one saw Jett Travolta (John Travolta's 17 year old son, though technically not a celebrity), Natasha Richardson, Mike Tyson's 4 year old daughter (also technically not a celebrity), David Carradine, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, Steve McNair, or Brittney Murphy dying this year. Farrah Fawcett of course had cancer so it wasn't as much of a shock, but I think she was in remission or her cancer had lowered in severity about 7 or so months before she died. And I'm forgetting some for sure.

So yeah, I definitely see what you mean by the quantity of dead celebrities being about the same, but 2009 just had such a higher amount of truly shocking deaths that it stood out.

In some ways, it feels strangely appropriate, for the end of a decade.

I remember her from Clueless. She was so young, how terrible. I was without a computer yesterday and just read this on DListed. To quote Michael K, "2009 just needs to turn the fuck around and walk away."

I loved her laugh, it was such a great laugh...no idea if she put it on for the characters that I've seen her play or not, but it was great. It made me sad to hear about this one :(

If you starve yourself, you can screw your heart. Although, according to TMZ and other sources, she probably also was a drug user.

Many famous celebs have died young from drug overdose, causing heart failure. But it won't be obvious until the autopsy results are released.
