Hello,

Alright, I am going to build my first computer pretty soon, but before I do and order the parts, I want to make sure that everything is compatible, and if certain things should be changed. The following is the parts that I am going to be ordering:

http://secure.newegg...tNumber=8639169

Also is there any additional things that I may be missing, or equipment needed to build. (Are screws, brackets etc with the parts?)

In my experience screws and the like have come with the case/motherboard
I'd wait for Fatals input before finalizing anything

Well.

Save youself some money.

Rosewill RC-402 10/100Mbps PCI LAN Card 1 x RJ-45 - Also Supports WINDOWS VISTA READY - Retail == WASTE. Your motherboard hsa a 1gbps card (faster) already on it....

SYBA SD-CM-PCI8 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card - Retail == WASTE. You motherboard has 8 channel audio on it, and you have HDMI audio as well.

Also, please note that the processor you picked does not have confirmed compatibility, but it does support the same socket type, and amd processors with the same number (5200), but they have not tested that exact processor build on it.Just something to keep in mind.

All you will need is a Phillips head screw driver. Try and get a medium size and a small size. All screws and cables will come with your motherboard/videocard/case. Your case might even be screwless.

Thanks. Now taking a look over, that saved me a good $80.... Any recommendations on processors that are confirmed compatible?

I was thinking about the
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHZ 2x1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor

Honestly. Any cpu should work with it, they cant test ALL cpu's

You can view what they know as compatible here.

I would recommend just getting an i7 :p. Would end up costing somewhat the same.

Also. A note on the second processor. It doesnt include a colling fan/cpu. So you would have to get one of those.

I would suggest getting an i7 and buy another cpu fan so you dont need to use the intel one (its not too good but it will get the job done if your not OCing).

Using the intel fan? Risky as shit. I know at least 3 people who have lost cpu's because the fans crapped out on them. I wasn't saying theyre terrible just not that great.

I still haven't got my computer working :(

Sounds like the person trying to build one here should do some research first. Second Processor?

Apparently there was nothing wrong with the mobo so my problem lies elsewhere....I have new RAM arriving tomorrow that will hopefully fix the problem.

Couldn't you have just ran memtest86 or try with 1 ram stick/switch positions of ram sticks?

Tried memtest and everything was fine. Also tried taking each stick out and adding them back one by one in all the different slots. Trust me there is nothing else I can try after fucking around with it for like 10 weeks now.

Yes.

You will get atleast double the processing power for around the same power.

Or if you can't afford the i7, get the i5. Still an equally good processor :)

Whwnever I install things to my HDD or download things onto my computer they are corrupt. Obviously the first thing you do is think 'HDD is fooked'...but it's not...and the other two I tried were not either. I can only come to the conclusion that it's the RAM....and all three sticks I bought were faulty . At least I hope that is the problem.

That possibly couldn't be the case.

So let me get this right. You have an operating system installed, yet when installing software or download say: Maplestory, the files are corrupt? Sounds like a user error to me, more than anything.

I presume you've tested the HDD's in another PC and they worked fine?
If you would like, send me your RAM and I can test it inside my PC and let you know if I have any trouble, or travel to Birmingham and bring it to me and I'll take a look at it :)

Everything in the computer is new. Got an i7 920, Gigabyte Ex58 mobo, 3gig corsair ram, new 1TB HDD and everything is compatible. The mobo has been sent back for testing and that was apparently fine and all the wires etc are in the correct place. I figured it might not be the RAM because I could get windows installed eventually....but then programs/games would close randomly and windows updates did not install properly etc etc....so that must have gotten corrupted during installation as well.

I am waiting for some new RAM to arrive at the moment. It is the same stuff the guy used to test the mobo. Everything he used to test it was the same as my build except for the RAM....which would suggest a RAM problem again.

I was hoping it would arrive today but the snow must have prevented the delivery.
