first time buying something. how is the shipping address determined?
mom is on vacation in us right now living with family. want to eBay stuff to take advantage of cheaper u.s. shipping rates.

paying with paypal, paypal has canadian addresss. can't add american address.
I want to make sure it ships to the american address and not my canadian address.

You SHOULD be able to set a different shipping address, so long as the billing address remains the same.

You can add a different shipping address within ebay itself lol You dont need to change any of your paypal information. Proceed through checkout and when it asks your shipping address, replace it with the one you want.

It depends on payment method and the seller.

Some sellers will ship to the PAYPAL address, because if they don't, they get zero paypal coverage. And they won't ship anywhere else.

Some sellers will ship to the eBay address, based on the information they get out of checkout.

It's all quite random, and the only way I know if they've chosen one or the other is that the Paypal account is is my mothers' name, while eBay is in mine. Generally, things that are more expensive, or registered mail, will come more often with my mothers' name on it. So it depends on the value of your transactions a little, but mostly on your seller.

You need to go into your Paypal account and change the address should your sellers insist upon shipping to the Paypal address, this requires them sending you a letter of some sort to ensure that you live at that address and then you type a code in (or I think that's what they do).

What you do is contact the seller before hand. Most people wont ship to non paypal address's due to paypal scammers.

They might want to take some time for verification or what not. Or they might just okay it.

Then during checkout, you want to give it a different shipping address.

Thanks guys this might have been more simple than I thought. Seller says he ships to whatever address paypal will say.

Then during checkout, you want to give it a different shipping address.

I've used paypal before but don't recall, you are given the chance during every paypal checkout to manually input an address, which can be different than the address registered to paypal itself?
