oo thats awesome you took some jiu jitsu. did you train anywhere good? I've been training at daddis gym on and off because of the cost of the place. Asian martial arts are difficult to execute in mma. really you would need to be world class, and even still only a little bit of that translates over. the best asian art to translate is people with a judoka background. if your looking for more action give a look at other organizations, or a K-1 event.
I thought the place I trained at was really good. But that was because there wasn't a big class. We had maybe 5 people, and two masters, so we had a lot of personalized training all of the time. Whenever I switched which art I was studying, the class size was almost at 30 people and I felt left out all of the time.
A lot of the Asian skills would transfer over very well. MMA is all about mixed martial arts. You can Strike, and grapple in it, which is essentially what all Asian Martial cover. Adapting to fighting against someone with a different style would be the challemge. I would love to see a Wushu or even a Jujitsu master enter the ring. Then you would be able to see a lot more cool things.
The problem is that Asian Martial Arts is becoming mostly demonstration, and hitting is usually eliminated.
The point is, compared to over fighting sports, UFC isn't that exciting, so why would I bother talking about it for days? I would rather talk about boobs over boring UFC.
