I guess I'll create a pet with the name I wanted for my lutari and zap the shit out of it. Hopefully it'll be female when it finally becomes a lutari in which case the name would fail. I might zap it once or twice after if its a male in hopes of a gender change.. nah too much of a risk. lol

I think it is kinda funny that they did that. But considering that they just took a bunch of kids for a ride i'm sure they will lose some traffic due to ragequits. I wonder how many new websites were made for the topic of "Neopets sucks"

Too bad I don't like them. :C

Though those Desert clothes look pretty spiffy. Maybe in another couple of years when there are more colors, especially if they let us transfer Lutaris like they totally should, I might be interested. They might be fun to customize.

Well, at first it was because they were making at least some sort of money by having them only obtainable through Neopets Mobile. Which I understand completely, from a business perspective it made sense.
Now that Neopets Mobile is dead, though, it's kind of pointless.

However, considering TNT's general laziness and just plain contrariness, I agree that the probability of Lutaris becoming transferable is... low at best.

I don't think they will cause they made lutaris to be "Special" and so they are fairly popular but more difficult to obtain than draik or krawk or any other LE pet..

actually, if a Lutari is put into the pound and it 'runs away', what exactly happens? Does the Neopet name go out of circulation and you can make a new one of the same name?

I read on the boards somewhere that the "run away" lutaris ended up on some programmer's profile, but I don't know if that's accurate or not. It'll probably work like frozen pets, the name's still there, you just can't find the lutari.. I'd ask the help boards or wait for someone who knows the answer, this is an interesting question.

I remember reading an Editorial saying that yes, it's just like a frozen pet: the name is still "taken" but the pet isn't around anymore for anyone to own. :\
I'll see if I can find it.

I don't think so My account has been frozen for a LONG time and the pet's name is still there. The account name is gone though.
