Does anyone think that banning ABer's is TNT's way of leveling inflation?

By banning big accounts they're about to get rid of millions and millions of neopoints out of the economy thus leveling it out a bit. I always find it odd that they dont tax trades or sales to help out the inflation problems, but mby this is their permanent solution(letting us hack till they decide we've taken enough out the the economy and banning us. )

This is a pretty roundabout way of doing things. I doubt that's their motivation. I would blame "not wanting people to cheat" for the reason they ice accounts.

    A) We don't hack, we bot.

    B) If we didn't AB them they would get legit RS'ed anyway. If TNT wanted to stop inflation they have many many other ways to do it. They ban AB'ers because they want to ban AB'ers and cheaters.

sure, it's clear that they ban us becasue we cheat... but what if another motivation for letting us cheat for a while is that they know we're taking neopoints out of the economy once they ban us.

I firmly believe in the premise of this topic. TNT is like the U.S. government and np inflation are like entitlement programs. They know it is destroying the economy but too many people would bitch if they try to take it away. Abers provide a scapegoat for them.

If you take AB'ers out of the economy you are equally like to create inflation as well since most of us have some fairly expensive items. Taking those items out makes them more expensive and hence creates inflation also.

Edit: therefore, banning users is not a good way to stop inflation. in fact it has inflated the cost of many items...

If they were so concerned about reducing the NP coming into the economy they wouldn't be running 8x score sending this month. ;)

Yep and all they would have to do is release tons of draik eggs, make krawks a created pet, and release tons of more expensive MPs into the economy. That would deflate the inflation so bad that it might even crash!

No, I don't think they care that much. I mean it's just an online game. They don't like cheaters, but i doubt they lose sleep over it. /unrelated

Depends on how out of hand it gets, cause if they let it go too far, then there is the chance in my opinion that the site would lose peoples interest should the amount of cheaters dramatically overwhelm those who play legit.

I think they care. It's a site that runs on add revenue backed by a (multi)-billion dollar company , if they started to lose traffic due to problems with cheaters and inflation then they stand to lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Pretty sure they've already lost way more traffic from their stupid site updates than they could ever lose to cheaters "ruining" parts of the game for some people.

There was a report about how neopets lost 25% in traffic.

and they're prbly trying to fix that. In the end, neopets will die slowly, and wither-away in a corner.

    I agree with this.
It's not like we are duping items. We are restocking items that would be restocked and priced the same with or without us abing. The only difference is how much of those restocks were bagged by one person, and individual wealth would only affect the neopets economy if, for example, people artificially inflated items. Which I guess would help the economy recover in that case, but I'm pretty sure they are just banning people because they are violating the TOS. I doubt Viacom gives that much of a damn about the neopian economy.

    Come back in 10 years.
    It'll probably still be here.

    1.
    You AB.
    You earn money.
    You dont get frozen.
    You get bored.
    You quit.

    2.
    You AB.
    You earn money.
    You get frozen.
    You rebuild.
    Repeat first step.

Way #2 is usually long thatn Way #1
Or they would quit, but they always come back.

Also I've noticed an overall decrease in the price of the things I've ABed over the last few months. I think we actually suppress the prices by undercutting each other so much. Most people would get a r85 item and think it's the shit and hold on to it forever on the TP. I've personally deflated the price of several items by putting it in my shops and others started doing the same.

In all honesty, they sold out completely. There were always signs of it, and I'm certainly guilty of feeding the fire( I bought like 5 of the harris(that girls clothing store or what ever) dolls, and I'm a dude)

It's gotten to a point where I can't pay attention to any of the artwork or anything that is neopets related on their pages because of all the fucking flash gasms happening on the sides and top of my screen. I mean talk about ad-over load. They should take some advice from ad-vert attack and mby make their sponsors not make such annoying adds. I for one am not buying kid's cuisine becasue of the ads on neopets.

I've also noticed this trend. Do ABers tend to care less about the profit they make because they haven't invested so much of their time in restocking perhaps?

This topic actually brings up an interesting point. It's clearly not the main goal IMO, but it seems like maybe there could be some sort of ulterior goal.

Plus anyone who says they don't care isn't paying attention. I dunno if I would say they "lose sleep" over it, but someone at least has an interest in the sense they get some kind of cruel amusement from banning accounts left and right, whether they cheat or not. Like, I heard a story (from a source I trust!) about some autistic kid who played Neopets really obsessively. Like, it was the kids entire life. And then they froze him on suspicion of cheating because "he was spending unusual hours online." So the kid is just completely torn up, and his mom actually emails the NPT and offers to give proof of her claims, and they just laugh at her.

That's just messed up if you ask me.
