Well ABers' main goal is just to make a profit so they do whatever necessary to sell their goods =/ It's not like hanging onto the stuff they buy will help them in any way if they want to hoard the neopointsI've also noticed this trend. Do ABers tend to care less about the profit they make because they haven't invested so much of their time in restocking perhaps?
Does anyone think that banning ABer's is TNT's way of leveling inflation?

Also I've noticed an overall decrease in the price of the things I've ABed over the last few months. I think we actually suppress the prices by undercutting each other so much. Most people would get a r85 item and think it's the shit and hold on to it forever on the TP. I've personally deflated the price of several items by putting it in my shops and others started doing the same.
i did this the other day, something was like 125k on the TP, i put it in my shop for 95k, used the SSW a few hours later, there were two more cheaper than mine, which i of course lowered

and yeah, thats why i sacrifice items, the other day i had 225k on an item in the TP, someone offered 170k, and my asking price was already 50k lower than the TP, and i was like eh, i cheated to get it anyway, and its 170k more than i had, so several times i take way less than what i want, simply because i didnt do anything to buy it

Inflation works that way too though.

Agree. Though some people have that kind of patience, and actually feel cheated or offended if you make a lower offerÂYeah, I guess I don't get the people that try and nickel and dime you for every item. I mean shit, if you're trying to sell it, it's not doing you any good just sitting in your SDB. Someone wants it for a little cheap, I don't give a shit, I'm still cutting a huge profit.

Back when, I was able to Ab on one account for close to two years before making a bad mistake with a SS, I got banned with over 100 million in the bank.
I doubt they really know who cheats until its obvious, like inhuman RS speeds or time spent restocking, Etc.

Congratulations on refuting that argument that no one was makingSome of you need a reality check. It seems as if some of you believe you are entitled to AB and there should be no repercussions.
As one who actually WRITES the programs, you would think I am supposed to agree with you. But I don't.
The neopets terms and conditions clearly say using programs to automate things on Neopets is against the rules. You are knowingly breaking these rules and therefor if caught, deserve to be frozen. It is not because they want to deflate the neo-economy, it is because you broke the rules.
I wont disagree that Neopets freezes you unfairly. My first account which I worked extremely hard to build up, was frozen unfairly. It is the reason why I BEGAN writing programs to start with.
Ultimately, this has always been the argument:
That Neopets should allow you to AB. They are publicly available so everyone has the option to use them or not.
And here is the rebuttal:
How many of you play games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike etc. How many of you cheat in online play on said game? I'm going to hedge my bets and say that quite a few of you play these games, and a majority of you DON'T cheat. Yet I'm sure you rage and/or get pissed off at players who join your game and are cheating, either blatantly or subtley but still noticable if you know what to look for.
Now their defence can be made the same as yours in the long run. Why can't they cheat? The cheats are publicly available and everyone has the option to use them or not. So WHY do developers/server administrators ban those who are found to be cheating?

Taking those items out makes them more expensive and hence creates inflation also.
that is the exact opposite of inflation

This topic actually brings up an interesting point. It's clearly not the main goal IMO, but it seems like maybe there could be some sort of ulterior goal.
Plus anyone who says they don't care isn't paying attention. I dunno if I would say they "lose sleep" over it, but someone at least has an interest in the sense they get some kind of cruel amusement from banning accounts left and right, whether they cheat or not. Like, I heard a story (from a source I trust!) about some autistic kid who played Neopets really obsessively. Like, it was the kids entire life. And then they froze him on suspicion of cheating because "he was spending unusual hours online." So the kid is just completely torn up, and his mom actually emails the NPT and offers to give proof of her claims, and they just laugh at her.
That's just messed up if you ask me.

How? Less of an item, same demand. The item costs more -> you end up getting less per neopoint?
from my understanding

I think if TNT were really concerned about inflation, they wouldn't give out so many opportunities to send more than 3 scores a day. Even if you just look at a couple games and you average less than 1000/play, you're still looking at 2-3x the flow of np per day for a full month.
That would also require the player to spend more time playing the games.

It's not always a huge matter of time. Yes, not everyone is going to go from playing each game they submit scores on and play them 10 times rather than three, but it certainly will increase the number of scores submitted.
When I play the games, I don't spend more than 15-20 minutes; I just don't have the attention span for it. That doesn't stop me from submitting 20 scores and making 20k (during the 10x season) as opposed to the 9k otherwise. It's a few extra minutes to make an extra 10k. Imagine that general effect for each legit player.

Inflation is when there is more in the economy(items, money, monkies, whatever..) so each of what you have is worth less than before. So in this case, the OP is saying that by banning high valued accounts with lots of NPs and high valued items, it is taking out those items and NPs out of the economy, and making the rest of the NPs and high valued worth more - hence, lowering inflation.
It doesn't go both ways, simple: taking from the economy = lowering inflation, injecting into the economy = creating inflation
So that's why games are a big inflation maker, because they directly inject NPs into the economy. ABers don't create inflation since they make profit by the NPs already in the system, but by icing them they take a large amount of the economy, so inflation is reduced.

Wrong. You're mixing inflation and deflation up, banning a mass amount of accounts with a mass amount of neopoints or high valued items would increase the price, therefor increasing inflation
In economics, inflation is a rise in the general level of prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.
Deflation is the contraction of economic activity resulting in a decline of prices.
