Just wanted to know your opinion on witch is better?
I do mean of course football (soccer) vs American football (hand-egg) :)
I'm British and unfortunatley American football has never interested me, I'm a football fan through and through.
Arsenal are my team and while we've not had the worst season i expect a much bigger impact next season.

I'm not a fan of any game that can end in a tie.

    Tiebreaker or GTFO

Since the Austrian soccer teams suck, I'll go with American Football. It's more brutal, too.

Of those two I would definitely say football is the best.

I don't enjoy football at all.
The energy of a crowd can be fun, but the game I find extraordinarily dull.

I've always liked the football as in soccer much better than American football. I've tried watching several games of football with my dad and such, but I find even games like the Superbowl incredibly dull to watch. It just seems so boring to me!

Now soccer, that stuff is intense IMO - especially when goalies make incredible saves, or strikers make some crazy shots. :)

Most people I know actually think the opposite.

Soccer they aren't really fans of, cause most of the match the ball is just getting passed around.

Football they really enjoy, and it's generally a lot of action.

American football for me is all basically the same and not too interesting. In soccer when you watch the top teams you get to see such individual flair and creativity (players like Messi, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ronaldo, Rooney). Sometimes you'll see a goal and do a double take whether you really just saw that happen. The only time I've ever done anything near that in American football, was in the last superbowl when that 300lb guy ran the whole field lol.

A lot of games are kind of slow though, especially when goal less. That's why highlights exist.

I see where you're coming from, but I still enjoy American football more. I do like soccer though, but the US league isn't very exciting and I have no idea where to watch Euro games.

When soccer games are slow and/or goal less, that really kills it for me. But in football, a slow or score less game may often be due to a team's superb defense rather than clumsy and inactive offense. Yeah some football games are rather low in score also, but like you said that's why highlights exist.

As for the individual flair business, that goes for football too. Faking punts, blocking punts, one-handed diving catches, etc. Michael Vick himself used to be a great QB to watch, due to his unconvential liking to run the ball rather than throw it.

For the sake of encouraging more discussion, here's what I dislike about soccer:

    - No replay system. Some guys get away with obvious flops and fouls, while others get penalized for being on the wrong end of the flop.

    - Extra time system. Not a biggie, but just appears much more official if they just stop the clock and resume when appropriate, rather than adding X minutes after each half.

Except that 'soccer' has been around for many many more years and is internationally played, ironically also played with your feet and a round object called a ball.
Whereas American Football is played predominintly by (you guessed it) Americans, has been around far fewer years than 'soccer' and is played for the majority of the game with your hands and also played with a sort of egg shaped 'ball'(?)

Not to mention currently the most popular sport, though many would think otherwise.

Worldwide football is an inexpensive sport to play. 4 sticks to indicate the goals, a flat open space and a ball. I believe this would have to be one of the reasons that it is played so widely across the globe.

Yeah, agree. Almost the same with basketball, though a hoop is harder to come by. I don't imagine american footballs being sold everywhere too.

I'd imagine that it'd take some strong glue or a lotta tape in order to hold up a Milk Crate. Also, when you're in rural countries, chances are that your ball is going to be of somewhat bad quality, and unlikely to be pumped of pressure and sealed tight as well for bounce. :(

Me? Troll? nope.... its just not football too me if you play with your hands and an egg shaped object.
E.g. if i was in the kitchen and i wanted an egg i wouldnt ask someone too pass me the ball . . . that would just be silly,
Balls are 85 % of the time spherical but then again 95% of all statitistics are made up lol.
Sorry if i do sound like a troll my bad!

    I think he was joking.

No worries, we're all sardonic peeps in here. :p

P.S. I would totally ask someone to pass me an egg as a football.
