Vote Conservative! :)

Posted Image

Wrong date, but still!

Conservatism (Latin: conservare, "to conserve") is a political and social philosophy that says that traditional institutions work best and society should avoid radical change.

So they want you to vote for change by voting Conservative? :p

Also, wouldn't a conservative party not view things like gay marriage very positively, or does this one?

My constituency ended up with an 8000+ majority in favour of the lib dems, shows that telling students that they can either vote for them, or vote for welsh nationalists that burnt down english houses during the 80's and 90's is a really good way to campaign here.

Well depending on how results go for the next hour or so we are either going to be having a conservative or a 'hung' govenrment.
Lets wait and see, Conservative seem too be getting the votes at the moment 326 seats are needed to get the job and so far they have 279, with a further 70 seats still to be counted.

Yes, they don't view gay marriage positively but it's something I am willing to overlook :)

Hung parliament ftw! Clearly the people prefer centre-left parties (52.2%) to the Conservatives (36%) so a Lib-Lab coalition would make a lot more sense than a minority Tory government.

Nobody won, that's what all the public debate is about. For Labour a hung parliament was the best possible outcome because they had no chance at all of winning outright, the Conservatives will be very disappointed to have not been able to get a majority despite how low Labour support was and the Lib Dems actually lost seats despite the alleged 'Lib-Dem surge'.

I'd be willing to bet that's more than slightly due to there being restrictions on student voting.

I know it's horrible to say this because everyone is entitled to their views, no matter how vile, but I'm so pleased to see the BNP's utter failure.

    Which restrictions?

In some constituencies, non-local students were segregated from local voters into a seperate line, and made to wait for locals to vote. In many cases, voting was closed before this occurred.
According to what I heard on the radio, that is, of course.

I didn't hear about that one, I doubt it could have amounted to much more than a couple of thousand people though. The increase for the Lib Dems from students would probably also be tempered by the fact that it's supposedly Labour voters who turn out to vote later in the day so it could have affected their voters too. :/ Either way it seems like it was a complete balls up by the election commission and local returning officers. :p

What exactly is the BNP, anyway?

I live in the United States but I hear about it quite often. I read about it for a little bit only but I've come to the conclusion that its an anti-immigrant, racist political party which believes in white supremacy. They blame immigrants for the country's problems. Is that conclusion remotely correct? I haven't read too much about it.

But if that is so, then I find it slightly appalling that it would seem to have a decent amount of supporters.

Conservatives won. Just not a majority. Hopefully it'll do good having a mix of mainly conservative with a touch of socialism and some green in there.

fuck students, you had 15 hours. it's your fault for getting up at 6pm!

Ok I'm going to explain a few things wrong with that.

1.) We're not a plutocracy, well not to the degree of the early 70's. Class movement has changed for the better, many people classify themselves as middle class, jobs such as plumbers, electricans and brickies can be seen as middle class. There is little economic equality (if there is, it's mainly preceeded by rational circumstances).

2.) Thatcher was great if you wern't a miner. But that's dead anyway. Plus she fucked up the argies.

3.) Labour got into power in 1997. That's 13 years of a blind scot and a catholic scot ruining our country. Long enough for lefties.

Well thanks, I'm completely enlightened by that post.

Look up NF, the friendly sister side of the BNP (I.E 10x worse)

Meh, high unemployment in the 80s, justified by the recession
Low approval rating on one hand, 3 successful elections on the other

Her whole career is pretty much neutral

    Long enough for lefties.

I'm more left than Lib-Dem, but I'd still vote for them if I could. Conservative can't be an advocate for change, and just because they branded 'green' and 'pro gay' doesn't mean they're a legitimate alternative to centre-left parties. Labor and Lib-Dem represent the greatest amount of class segregated people, and the upper fifth all votes conservative.

Gotta be lib-con coalition. Or maybe regionals with conservatives.

France just needs to nationalize or further regulate their private water industry and control their muslim population. And scale back their military spending
Australia needs to drop it's absurd censorship laws
America needs a major overhaul or in like a decade the bulk of the population will be enslaved by debt they can't get out of
