Yeah, i found the fairy on google, then thought "oo, need pedestal.. a moon".. I kind of wanted to have the moon with a brown-ish glow but.. well I did end up with a harvesting moon.. The rest is my own work cause I couldn't find a nice night-time background in a forest clearing...

I can only do observational drawing, cause I've never had lessons and just do it for a hobby.

Ie, I envy you guys. Your art is brilliant o.o

Observational, as in using a reference? I almost always have to use references when I draw or paint something. Otherwise it comes out kinda wonky.

    Those are pretty.

Something i'd really like to try again is monotypes. We did them in my printmaking class- you get like a piece of plexiglass, and put some sort of tooth on it. We used dishsoap, and let it dry overnight. Then you paint whatever on the soap, wet your paper, and print. Here's a great example of one although mine came out nowhere near as good as this one.

I do some 3D modelling in my free time as a hobby. Been getting back into it again lately, I hoped to put together a portfolio, but I always seem to get distracted in the process.

I'll find some examples of my work :p

I absolutely love abstract oil paintings... I'm obsessed with them... I've probably purchased 30-40 in the past year and I know I don't have the space for them... But yeah... I just love them, they're so stimulating and beautiful just mmm :D

Are you trying to be overly modest or something?

Some oil paintings are beautiful, but that shit is messy and seriously takes like 50 years to dry.

Well if you drew the picture in the link you posted, you can draw well.

I was serious... the arm isn't in the right position, the texture of lace is due to the diminishment I had to do not even recognizable, the colors I used for the skin were far to flat, there's no real light and shadow source etc etc etc

It doesn't need to be perfect for it to be good. It's good, and better than what most people can do. Sure there are people out there with more talent, but that doesn't mean you can't draw. <_<

Well, in my opinion it is one of my more worse pictures... to each his own, I guess. But thank you.

It most definitely does... I have done some myself and I find it to be nice to look back at a picture... I mean I personally don't appreciate some of the things I've seen or done but then you look at a picture and some times it really does bring out the overall "value" of the photo...

As for oil taking forever... Well I personally wouldn't know as I've never done it the drawing and drafting I do is with charcoal and pastels and they're typically things in regards to my company like cable drafts and designs etc... Nothing nice and pretty to the normal eye.

I love charcoal :) I think I posted my charcoal self portrait in another thread but i'll dig it out later to post here. It takes a while to get the hang of drawing and shading with it though.

I drew this back in art class, yes I know there are some things that kinda look odd, but this wasn't a finished piece. I took this picture a week before I turned the project in so I did make some changes and what not. This is Yuri from Girls Generation (SNSD).

I actually just took it on my phone and imported it here, and you're right, cropping it a bit would definitely make it appear a little less... like it's literally out of my backyard.
It sounds like my girlfriend is going to play with it a bit with one of those photoshop-type programs. If that ever gets done, I'll post it here :D
