After however many topics about "help, I got CGed" or "how do I avoid getting CGed?", I figured I'd help the masses set up PINs for their accounts with the hopes that this would stop the bitching in the future ;)

The chief benefit to having a PIN set up: added security. It's as simple as that. This ensures that if you *do* manage to get CGed, they can only work with what you've got on hand (NP onhand or items in your inventory), or what you don't have covered.

The entire process is fairly simple. From anywhere, you can roll your mouse over "My Account" at the top of the page. Click on "Control Panel".

This will bring you to the "Account Control Panel" page. Here, you can modify all your information. The link we're looking for is "PIN Preferences"

Your first time here, you can set up your PIN. Pick something that you're going to remember, but nothing *too* obvious or unsafe (1234, your birthday, real world PIN, etc).

After you set up your PIN, set it up to protect your shit. I'd recommend covering everything relevant on your account; bank, shop and SDB are a good call for everyone. Unequipping your pet and Pound/Neopets transfer is good for anyone with actual pets (not just there as placeholders). Obviously, be smart about what you cover (or rather, don't cover). If you've got Candychan on one of your pets, cover petpet removal. If you've got SoS equipped to your battledome pet, cover pet transfer and unequipping. And I'm going to make sure this next point is nice and clear for you all:

***Be sure to cover EMAIL CHANGES and REMOVING YOUR NEOPETS ACCOUNT***

Hopefully this will give you all a little peace of mind, knowing that (at the very least) you'll be able to re-obtain your account if you get CGed.

Edit: Apparently in my time on the internet, I haven't been able to figure out how to attach a picture successfully ;)
Edit 2: Fixed it... Sort of

I think this is a really good guide, however wouldn't it be more helpful to put this up in the guides section? I bet there's lots of people there looking for guides like this.

Most people are posting their CG bitching threads here; I figured it would be more relevant here. However, if a mod finds it better suited for that section... well, they know best ;)

Im glad too and i think you deserve a point for putting in the work to show people how to do this in detail. Pins have been around for a loooong time. 3-4 years? I'm surprised people don't know about it.

The sad thing is that people actually need this. -_-
    Props for making it. :)

Needs to be moved to the guides section, though.

I thought it would be terrible, but after the first couple days, I had absolutely zero trouble with it. The worst is pricing your shop, but NeonAP takes away the trouble there.

I'm training my pet right now (armoured neggs and training school) so I've been making 4-5 trips/day to my SDB nowadays. I guess I've just gotten used to working with it ;)

Just use form autofill and it'll keep your pin in at all times.
