Wow that animation on the text is awesome. Real simple but really amazingly done. Flash probably huh?

If you haven't seen the movie the man who gives this speech is insane. He's a washed up news anchor who has lost everything of value in his life, and then snaps under all the physiological stress. While what he's saying may seem pointless, it carries many of the movies main themes.

"It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

The movie suggests that television is making us insane because we receive all of our knowledge from it. We don't want to go out into the world anymore. We just want to be left alone. We don't want to deal with the stress of the world so we shut it off from ourselves and reduce our human contact to that which comes through wires.

"You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell"

Basically, he is saying "go do something". Stop sitting watching your television being angry, go out into the world and do something about your anger. He's not saying go riot; What he's saying is let your voice be heard.

    Oh right!
I kinda do see it now tbh, Had to watch it again though.

I do agree that we should let our voices be heard but what else is there we can do.
Pretty much everything is out of our personal control.

Its like global warming, 1 person on their own cant do anything and not enough people out there are willing to change. From my experience anyways.

Well in the movie he's actually on television lol, so it makes a lot more sense.
I should probably post a synopsis so people aren't all confused :/

truly awesome animation and monologue. His tone and interpretation of the writers 'voice' is perfect.

Ehh, the video could definitely have been done better. The animations aren't that hard to do and could easily be done in a day [text is not in 3D]. Also, the text arrangement at various points are sloppy, and look just too cluttered or unpleasing to the eye. Adding to that, the shadow effect is an all-around shadow which in a sense is just not 'realistic,' and honestly makes the text look worse.

Compared to a 'standard' example of kinetic typography, you could say the motion of the camera is too quick, but seeing the dynamics of the sound, I would say it's fitting. And I'm not talking about the camera motion moving from one set of words to another; that part is done fine, with a quick motion blur added to the text to simulate that the camera is in fact moving quickly. I'm talking about when the camera is focused on one set of words, the creator of the video put many alterations in the camera position during very few keyframes.

Anyways, I've got to agree this video is actually pretty epic. But not because of the video, but rather because of the speech. And the video compliments the audio very well, but for kinetic typography it could have been done much better.

PS. Noitidart if you go to the Youtube page it says the video was made in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects.

Also, for a video created in After Effects, I would rate it down even lower. That is because this video would've been possible to do in Sony Vegas Pro 9. And Sony Vegas sucks at making animation videos like this.

I actually know the guy who made this. Aaron Lemming. I don't have to watch it or go to youtube to tell you that either. He went to my high school.

He made this in less than a day. Just so ya'll know.

Yeah, next time you'll have to quote "Meet the Spartans" and people will know what you're talking about. Pop culture references fly right over our heads. Half of us don't even know who the Beatles are.
    :p
