For those of you who live in the US, you know midterm voting is right around the corner. I didn't want to put this in the general debate forum, because I didn't want people just bashing others about who they are going to vote for.

So I created this topic just to let people know that you have a right to vote for people to represent your state in congress and the house, which is more than a lot of people are able to do in their countries. People need to get out and vote this year, but only once they are properly informed! Feel free to post sites that you know of for your state or in general that have FACTS for one party or another.

It doesn't matter who you want to vote for, it's all about being informed that the person you are voting for is the person you are actually reading about.

I won't be posting any links yet because I haven't quite found the sites I would like to use for the people representing my state. So feel free to discuss anything about the upcoming elections, and remember, if you want to argue with someone about facts that's fine, just cite your sources please.

Get informed, AND VOTE.

Fuck Obama and anyone that politically wants anything to do with Obama.

Seriously, I love that someone who is supposed to be our President is off on "family vacations" more than he is actively doing something for the country.

Seriously, you know this is true.

I've honestly given up on watching the news anymore because every other day, Obama is off in some city shutting down all flights for the day because the man can't handle doing his "job" for more than a few hours straight.

    Not really.

There isn't a whole lot to do at 18 that I didn't already illegally do. It's easy to smoke whatever you want, drink, do drugs, etc. It's not easy to illegally vote. :p

    President Obama’s Vacation Days
    January 11, 2010

Posted Image Q: Has President Obama taken more vacation time than his predecessors?

A: According to one count, Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush spent more time on "vacation" during their first year than President Obama did. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton spent less time on "vacation."

    Posted ImageFULL ANSWER

President Obama has spent all or part of 26 days "on vacation" during his first year as president, according to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller.

Knoller, who has covered every president since Gerald Ford and is known for keeping detailed records on presidential travel, counts the following among President Obama’s "vacations" in 2009:

    • A four-day holiday weekend in Chicago in February where the president played some basketball and treated First Lady Michelle Obama to a Valentine’s Day dinner date.
    • An eight-day stay with his family at a rented house on Martha’s Vineyard in August.
    • A trip out west to the U.S. states of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona that combined both business and pleasure. The president held town hall meetings on health care during the trip. And he went fly fishing and took trips to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon with his wife and two daughters.
    • An 11-day stay in Hawaii where the president and his family celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Some of the president’s recent predecessors, however, have spent more days — either entirely or partially — away from the White House "on vacation" during their first year in office.

President Reagan, in 1981, spent all or part of 42 days away from the White House "on vacation" at his home in Santa Barbara, Calif, according to Knoller. President Reagan and his wife, Nancy, also spent three or four days around New Year’s Day each year in Palm Springs, Calif., at the home of philanthropist Walter Annenberg. (In 1993 the late Mr. Annenberg founded the nonpartisan Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, which is FactCheck.org’s parent organization.)

President George W. Bush spent even more time away from the presidential mansion in the nation’s capital than Reagan. Of the 77 total "vacation" trips the former president made to his Texas ranch while in office, nine of them — all or part of 69 days — came during his first year as president in 2001, according to Knoller.

How 'bout fuck you instead? The president is entitled to vacation just like any working class citizen and has spent less time on vacation than some of his predecessors. Just because he takes his kids out for a week here and there doesn't mean he's doing nothing.

I wouldn't mind the President being on vacation so much if he wasn't setting up the Country for hard-core failure.

    http://blog.heritage.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/wapoobamabudget1.jpg

President Barack Obama has repeatedly claimed that his budget would cut the deficit by half by the end of his term. But as Heritage analyst Brian Riedl has pointed out, given that Obama has already helped quadruple the deficit with his stimulus package, pledging to halve it by 2013 is hardly ambitious. The Washington Post has a great graphic which helps put President Obama’s budget deficits in context of President Bush’s.

What’s driving Obama’s unprecedented massive deficits? Spending. Riedl details:

UPDATE: Many Obama defenders in the comments are claiming that the numbers above do not include spending on Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush years. They most certainly do. While Bush did fund the wars through emergency supplementals (not the regular budget process), that spending did not simply vanish. It is included in the numbers above. Also, some Obama defenders are claiming the graphic above represents biased Heritage Foundation numbers. While we stand behind the numbers we put out 100%, the numbers, and the graphic itself, above are from the Washington Post. We originally left out the link to WaPo. It has now been added.

CLARIFICATION: Of course, this Washington Post graphic does not perfectly delineate budget surpluses and deficits by administration. President Bush took office in January 2001, and therefore played a lead role in crafting the FY 2002-2008 budgets. Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for the FY 2009 budget deficit that overlaps their administrations, before President Obama assumes full budgetary responsibility beginning in FY 2010. Overall, President Obama’s budget would add twice as much debt as President Bush over the same number of years.

So is he sitting around doing nothing, or is he fucking things up? Because it can't be both. Either he's doing jack squat, or he's destroying our future. One or the other, baby. Glad you enjoyed the Puffy Daddy Combs Diddy.

I don't care what people vote for (I do but I'm not going to try and put my beliefs on someone else over the internet) but I'm sick of hearing people around campus and at work etc that blab off these bullshit "facts" about people trying to get elected. So the idea of this board was to help people understand that you don't need to just go out and vote, you need to get informed about what you are voting about, or just stay at home.

Oh, right. Thanks for posting so much information to keep us informed. *looks around all confused* Wait, what?

Last time I checked a forum isn't a one person thing. The midterm elections are State elections, in case you didn't know. ;) I don't live in 50 states, so I can't post 50+ websites and say if they are all accurate or not.

The first post DOES say for other to post links or post what they think about this...

I can't think of many things he isn't already fucking up/on the verge of fucking up, to be honest.
I mean frankly, I wish he'd just stay on vacation permanently until the end of his term, things might go better.

I'm not sure. I live in Illinois and The past 2 governors that we've had have both been convicted of felony charges, so really there has to be someone better than those 2. One was republican and one was democratic. Really I just want someone who will live in our capital instead of Chicago, because Blagojevich was living in Chicago and flying down to the capital every time he needed to do anything for work, and he was using tax dollars to do that...

I think the only reason I will really vote for a republican for governor this year is so that some kind of carry law can be passed in Illinois. Whether it is concealed or open carry, Illinois is the only state that doesn't allow one of the two.
