So guys, I'm making a iphone app that allows easier neopets gaming on the iphone... The topic title really says it all.
The only problem is.... i need a php server to parse the information off of the neopets site, and i forgot all my php -.-"
so if anyone would like to help me, just reply in this topic. xD

Things i do have:
-PHP webhost. It also supports the python framework if you want to use that
-an idea

Things i need:
-someone to help me code the server
-someone with a mac to compile the finished code (i dont got no mac T-T)
=)

What you will get:
-A neopets app for your iphone/ipod
-you get to help me make something! (hopefully it will be awesome xP)

this will probably only be jailbreak only. because i have no money for an appstore license
and this might be too hard, and i might quit (and maybe hand everything over to neocodex to continue)... but thats only if i fail

Okey dokey, Web app is going fine, no more apple store, no more jailbreak. you can also download through safari :)
Things i want for app:
Splash screen [x]
Main menu [x]
Login page [x]
actual login form [ ]
icon [x]
User detection [ ]
Stats detection [ ]
random event detection [ ]
Inventory/shop item detection [ ]
Some more stuff later...

To get the webapp, please pm me

Update 3:
Well, i finished some sub menus, i wont bother to post screenies because the all look the same

Update 2:
Well, i got the icon done,
Posted Image

the login page (Just tells you that you need to log in using safari. Will change once someone gives me a port of the python login window)
Posted Image

And the main menu xD
Posted Image

Update 1:
So, scratch everything from before, I just need help parsing info, and submitting login information:
i do have some screenies of the beta login page though,
Posted Image

Oh yeah, it will be a web app now T-T
no more app :(

I dont think neopets is meant for mobile gaming. The only use that would be utterly awesome I think si if you got an alert like hey someone made an offer on your trade. or someone sent you a neomail. then you can reply to that neomail. and accept/reject trade post things. i think that would be utterly awesome.

Why do you need a webhost or even php for this? Sounds pretty simple.

But if i remember correctly slaughter was working on something for android he may be able to help you here. If there's anythign i can do let mek now i would really find this app useful.

First off, the app would be like lutari island. Sort of. Which meant neopets anywhere you go. It was also a pretty good GUI so navigation didn't take long. Browsing the neopets site through a phone would mean neopets anywhere. While this is already possible, the site is almost impossible to navigate, with all of it being flash/slow loading.

Well, the app Sdk is on my iPod, so functionality is not as good. Also, the only way possible for you to login through iPhone/iPod is to use the actual neopets site which takes ridiculous amounts of time to load. I could also add on alerts, but I would need a Mac for that T-T. However neomail would be possible because the site/server would parse that for us.

And I did check slaughter's post, but it was pretty old so I wasn't sure if I should post there xP

If there was ever an iphone app for neopets I would so get it. I used to have neopets mobile before they cancelled it... I wish they hadn't. Navigating through Neopets on Safari on an iphone is pretty easy though, I do it all the time, so if you decide to create an app it should be B.A!

Oh it was a good idea to make a new topic.
iPhones dont have a http request thing? You have to use php curl?

Not only does it seem like you have next to no chance of accomplishing such a task, but you do not have proper licensing to go ahead in the first place. Even if you were to spend hours coding it, it would never get through Apple's screening process in to the App Store itself.

Project is doomed to fail.

That's why he said it was probably(more than likely) to be jailbreak only. I don't see a problem with that, the problem I do see is...the lack of a php coder who would want to do such a thing.

Wouldn't this be against the law anyway? I have heard of people being sued for just making a guide for a game and releasing it as an app....and this sounds a lot more risky.

You would probably need consent from Nickelodeon (I think that is who own Neopets....) and that is not going to happen.

well, Like i said, it would be jailbreak only. and this wouldn't allow anything that you couldn't do on the normal neopets site. In fact, it would restrict what is possible on the neopets site. so i dont really think this would be illegal. It runs off the same rules that this site runs on. (doesn't do anything you wouldn't normally be able to do)

@Faval
Well, the site doesnt have to be in php, it could be in python, which i know, a lot of the programmers here already know how to use. For now, all i need is a page that allows logging in to neopets, and a random event script (refreshes once on the certain page the iphone game is on, and detects any random events).

EDIT:
I have proof directly from the neopets ToS:
"You are not permitted under any circumstances or for any reason to cheat or utilize third-party games or code in order to win at, or gain Neopoints or Items from any Neopets game. You agree not to design, disseminate or use any third party programs designed to change the game play on the site including, but without limitations, programs such as autobuyers, flash game cheats, autofreshers, and snipers."

My app will not do any of those, so it is not against the rules xD (unless making it easier to use on iphone is a change to the gameplay... I'm pretty sure its not though)
yay me

Why do you need the PHP server? Can't you download the HTML in the app itself and use the iPhone XML parser to parse the HTML?

like i said before, i don't have a mac, so i am limited to a fail sdk called interface (its on the iphone)
but, if you would like to help me find a free sdk for windows, i would be very happy xD
of course it would have to have the iphone xml parser support

EDIT:
well, i just found a windows sdk that uses html, javascript, and css xD

There is one thing i need help with.

If possible, can someone port the neopets Login for the bots to html? Javascript and css will work, but php will not.

sry for the double post.

I think it would be better to get the cans and can'ts straightened out first before you end up making a lot of redundant code.

EDIT: Now that I see the GUI, this is going to bring up a lot of concerns for users as well as Viacom. How do we know your server won't be logging usernames and password (and get hunted down by Viacom)?

As far as the TOS is concerned, they do state "You agree not to design, disseminate or use any third party programs..." even though it doesn't directly say "phone applications" it would still come under a third party program. Just because they don't say specifically doesn't mean it's legal to use.

Also, kind of concerned what you mean by the random event script, cause that sounds like an autorefresher right there.

oh, by random event script, i mean something that would check the actual page that you are using to see if a random event happened. It just needs to load once.
and nickelodeon changed the ToS -.-" Now i have to re-read it! ARGGG

Just asking, but is it possible to make a neopets mobile site as a web app or an app with html5?

I wish I knew how to code...I barely know how to do html now, if any. But no one has ever taught me lol and it would take forever to learn.
