Some interesting stories of today:

China's tax payer money vs the US - Hmmm kinda makes me wonder...if the US will ever even pay off it's debt.

Then I read this: US wants to wiretap internet and I see where the tax money is going

Suspended animation for surgery - Sounds cool(no pun intended).

Feel free to add more of your own :)

Ah, the benefits of a controlled economy. Or maybe it's due to complete political control of a nation of almost 2 billion.

    Still, that's impressive.

Every nation that spends money on it's populace will accumulate debt. But not to the degree that the US has...

Compare: Public and Private debt where US ranks first, to
Public debt where US ranks 47.

It seems we're trusted more to pay our debts when the borrower isn't our government.

Hmmm, I don't know, it wouldn't be so bad...at least their government will build a intercontinental high speed train system here unlike the backwards crap we have in America now. Sure they'll be oppressing freedom but hey, it's already happening in America anyway :p

And what's wrong with working on rice fields :p

If music was reasonably priced, I would have no problem, but the industry has gone so far downhill that it's close to criminal how much they charge. I work for close to minimum wage, I can't afford to buy every album that has maybe 15 songs on it, for anywhere from $10 to over $20. A few bands I listen to, they're not about the money, and they sell their albums online for "pay-what-you-want" prices. I buy those, because that's fair. Throw a few dollars their way, they make plenty of money. There's no reason why music should be the price it's at right now, we're emptying our wallets to already very rich people.

I could go all day ranting about the crimes of the music industry these days, but I'll hold my tongue. ;)

I download music all the time, but I also buy what I like.

Only $20? I have to pay much more just to get the hard copies of the albums I like because I have to import them from Asia, and to get something like a concert costs me about $100, but hey, I'll give my money away for something I actually want.

I would hope you have a good job then, because if you collect as much music as I do, you must be dishing out sums of money well in the thousands. I have 55 complete albums (I only download albums at a time) right now, which is actually pretty low for me. If you consider a base price of about $15 for each album, I'm looking at $825 I would have spent. This is why I don't buy music.

    Today's new from me...

Shooter on University of Texas Campass. Story is still developing but I've talked to a friend who is in lockdown in a classroom there now. (Just got off the phone.) At the time I talked to her the first shooter has been confirmed to have shot himself and the second shooter is being hunted for.

Early reports have indicated that the shooter may have been wielding an AK47, but at this time I haven't had any confirmation anyone has been injured except for the shooter.

Here is a live link to the story from the UT website.

Also, former President Jimmy Carter has been hospitalized for an unrelated and undisclosed condition.

I should probably call my friend who goes there.............O_o

Yeah, sad to see another shooting happen again...was reading about it from reddit.

For more related news to yesterday, the government is now spending even more money on something that may not help at all - Obama signs small business bill as it is given to banks that may or may not want to lend the money out to businesses anyway.

    + 30 Billion to debt.

according to that link now, the scene has been cleared by police. All should be alright. Apparently no one got hurt but the shooter...

and Faval, I KNOW. I just wonder what happens when your debt surpasses our GDP (it's close to doing so. O_o)

Oh, that's good. Still curious to see whether or not she was there when the shootings happened. Scary shit.

And yeah, we have a colossal amount of debt these days. I'm all for socialistic influences in our government, but I'm not sure what the point is if you're going to go half way and not raise taxes. Now we have a bunch of policies intended to help the lower and middle class, that aren't helping the lower and middle class, and we're spending loads and loads of money that's not coming from anywhere. America has seriously gone down hill in this past decade, and it's not just because of the recession. It really is just due to idiotic government practices. I really need to just move on out to Canada or Britain.

I don't know if moving to Britain is a good idea...you're probably better off in other parts of Europe.

Simply amazing isn't it, not only is China building a intercontinental railroad system that doesn't suck like the current US one, they broke the world record for max speed http://www.ibtimes.c...speed-train.htm
