Besides that BT hosting sites have already been targeted like the pirates bay. They're losing income and they're blaming file sharing.
There's really not much of a defense going on for file sharing I mean, it's not like the term "pirating" helps either.

Sure it 'may' have cost the record companies 'millions in revenue' because people are downloading something they have absolutely no intention of ever paying for
This is kind of an important point. The record companies count every download as a "lost sale," but in reality only a small portion of the downloads are people who would otherwise have bought the album.
There are plenty of times when I've downloaded an album only to delete it later. I could have achieved the same result by previewing the album in a store, but this is more convenient.

Or stop being retarded and use ThePirateBay already.
In fairness, a direct connection is more useful for single songs. I just prefer TPB since I'm more a fan of getting the entire album anyway.

I look forwards to hordes of people switching to torrents and seeding with a .1 ratio
Well thankfully some torrent sites require you maintain a certain share ratio and limit membership

Who still uses public trackers these days?
If I can't find a particular file privately, I'll go public

Is there any real point to using private trackers like demonoid? Or is demonoid too public?
With 0day/scene sites you get fast speeds, fast access to all the new stuff. Eventually it ends up on most sites anyway but when you are refreshing the new torrents list because you don't have ShowTime and you want to watch the new episode of Dexter minutes count, damn it. Demonoid is not really private because they hand out invite codes like candy but to their credit they have amazing file diversity and longevity.

Watching a show hit the site within 3 minutes of its on-air completion = win
I've joined a couple others where they have more specialized files, but when it comes to older movies, music, and other shit where time isn't a factor, TPB does just fine. I just seed to 200% and I know I did my part.

DC++ is legendary over a university-grade network. Especially if you have a few good file hubs.I used Limewire when I was 12. (Now I download from my university's DC++ hub. It's disgustingly limited in variety, but it doesn't consume bandwidth. Otherwise I use TPB because I am a loser I guess. SADFACE)
God bless the university of Nottingham's CompSci department.
