I replaced a defective toshiba hard drive on a old laptop with a samsung ssd and it's been working fine since.
I think a 2.5'' sata hard drives/ssds should be compatible with most laptops.
^This, just make sure that it is a 2.5" one so it will fit.
Also, since the newegg ones are bare drives make sure you have the SATA cables to plug it into your laptop. I would recommend using newegg because they're pretty good about returns on the off chance it doesn't work out or the HDD is DoA.

Can't wait for this, just hope the site doesn't implode from the heavy traffic.
I remember the altador cup being an actual commercial on actual TV. Ah how times have changed.
