I got lucky and got the staff/orange shirt dude and it was the second catch as well so I got double the points for it. Easily beat it then. I was getting quite annoyed because I was getting close and not beating 175.
For those who can't get it (due to country), can't you just change your country by editing your profile? I'm not really sure if it would help with this but I know you can change your country.
