#2032290 Not my first intro.

Posted by valseedian on 18 October 2020 - 08:38 PM

Seems I'm only waiting on some mod approval to start posting some code/tutorials.  Programs aren't ready for prime time yet, so that will come later, also after a staff approval process.  I'm glad to be here.  Spent all weekend re-factoring my old headers and what little codebase I've made since coming back to make reviewing my code more practical. managed to get the new 'integral headers' from 6k lines to just a bit more than 4.5k.   there was a lot 2010 me wrote that I don't need anymore.

as mentioned before, I lost almost all of my portfolio to a triple redundant backup failure, every line of neopets specific code I've ever written...  so I'm basically starting over from scratch and I really only get to code late at night after a full time job and between attendings to my infant.   I code in C++, so my development isn't 'agile'..  and I revel in writing everything from the ground up.. I'm likely at least 2-3 months away from a beta version of valscript. untill then, I plan on producing some more standard bots for general consumption, with all of the code required to compile your own version.  in the end, my old ban protection amounted to having a ton of other activities the program could do, and could choose to do instead of the main function of the program.  wouldn't earn as much NP, but would absolutely make the account look more legit.

going to go write up a few tutorials on how to use my 'finished' headers.

Hi NeoCodex.  Name's valseedian (also known as fletch).   I've been a neopets bot programmer for nearly 15 years and I'm back on a neopets programming jag.  I lost my portfolio and stopped making bots for nearly a decade.

2 months (or so) ago I got a copy of my headers and a few of my sources.. started refreshing my minesweeper autoplaying bot, and after more or less finishing that, I decided the next step was to refresh my old ValScript project-  A neopets specific scripting language and script runner Ala runescript or the like where users can share their scripts to the community.

I've spent about a month on it, and I'm not really close, but I'm looking for a good place to post about my results- coding tutorials, sources, headers and a sorta programming diary maybe.

I'm working on a version of my old USAB system that didn't use the shop wiz much by gathering names from other locations.  When that's done I'll release it here as long as that's OK with the staff.   If there's a mod/staff member I can chat with please dm me.

#1106229 mystery pic- Cracked by Valseedian

" comon in, my curious sisters and brothers. First, put a 20 in the jar with the others. That's right, take a seat, Aint no smokin in here, I gotta keep my ball clear. there's spirits in there"

Srry for the dramatic startoff... but.

for the last 5 days I've been workin on a new, more reliable and faster method of solving the mystery picture contest on neopets... today I reached a 'final' version. So far today, my program has successfully determined the correct picture for 10 historical contests without so much as a hiccup. It's failed 1 so far, but there's a host of reasons why it could have failed.

as a little bit of proof, http://images.neopet...caption_414.gif is the answer to the latest mystery pic (currently over, round 726). it's in the top lefthand corner, on the 2nd knuckle of the plushie grundo's antenna/ear.. or at 5x55 in that image. the answer still has not been released yet.

the ENTIRE process takes around 2 hours. the comparison only process takes around 3 minutes, but I can have an answer as fast as 8 seconds. The best part is I'll probably only have to use the comparison program each week. Up untill this program, the only other way I could find to solve the mystery pic was a well circulated, but very difficult to use scar script. the scar script could also take days to get an answer...

So, why am I tellin all you? Well, I'm selling the answer. To 20 people each contest.
I've not established a value for the answer as of yet, and in all fairness, it'll be less than the value of the prizes won. answers are first come first serve, and EMAIL ONLY. I'll be creating another program that will wait till the new pic comes out and then runs it automatically for me so all I'll have to do is send it out.

I WILL NOT BE GIVING OUT THIS PROGRAM, OR SUPPLIEING IT"S SOURCE IN WHOLE OR IN PART TO ANYONE.. I may sell the entire suite for a nominal fee, tho I'll start by saying that having 40000 images in a single directory on your computer can be...... bothersome.... at times to say the least... all the image files I have currently add up to 400 mb in size, and take 814 mb of disk space, and takes about 20 minutes to download using my multithreaded download agent. the spidering tool to gather the images' url's can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on the filters used. As stated before, the comparison script takes no more than 10 minutes to completely compare all images properly. if you want more info, or a description of what the programs do in an algorithmic form... I'll be glad to give it out.
