PS....

AlienWare was bought out by Dell a while ago. Quality has suffered from what I have seen....

Check out ABS computers, I am sure you know their spinoff company: Newegg.com or their new one chiefvalue.com ... if their websites are any indication of their customer service their machines should hold up pretty well...

anyway best of luck biggrin.gif

Well,

In my experience there are a few reasons this may happen.

1. Software errors (ruled out with a recent format)

2. RAM failure, this would be noticed if you recieve a blue screen or a random reboot while usining large amounts of memory.

3. Power Supply failure (if it has trouble staying on, and doesn't fully boot before powering down, or powers down under heavy load)

In my experience a power supply failure can often take other components with it, motherboard and ram are the most likely.

Power supply failure or power systems in the motherboard going out are often related to poor electical systems in your home. Most notable is that a surge protector *may* protect you from a MASSIVE surge, however small surges, and more importantly small dips in power can have many damaging effects to components.

That is why for every high end machine I sell I am sure to include a cheap UPS (battery backup) as these protect from both spikes AND dips, with a fully regulated power source.

Best of luck

Well,

Generally ATX cases have standoffs that can be removed and screwed in to diffrent holes.

Assuming you have already adjusted these, then a new case would be in order.
