My first pride and joy (96 Holden VS Commodore)

Posted by Strategist, 21 August 2013 · 3193 views

Ok so, bare with me while I get the hang of this blog shit. I'm old and this will be my very first ever 'blog' crap.

So I have always had a passion for modifying my cars and restoring them too. At current count, I have owned 5 cars since I got my licence back in 2001.

This is the first car that I modified a bit though.

My 1996 VS Holden Commodore painted in Sherebrooke Green Metallic.

WARNING: LOTS of pics, may cause slow connections to absolutely shit themselves with the amount of bandwidth :p

This is how it looked when I first bought it:

Some photos from my first drive through the hills and down on the beach in it:

Then the custom work started:

Got sick of the custom green I painted on the interior plastic trims, so I repainted them a candy green to black instead. Also vinyl dyed the rest of the grey parts black.

Bought a body kit for it, never painted it before selling the car but this is what it looked like:

When I used it in my wedding (before the kit was put on)

How much did the kit set you back if don't mind me asking?

I managed to pick up each part separately off eBay and a couple wreckers for under $400 total. I did all the work prepping it with primer fill and bogging up the defects. Hours and hours of sanding to get it smooth as a baby's bottom XD Retail, the kit would've cost me ~$1200.

My next car I buy is all about performance :D I will be puttin up another blog entry later with some more of my work I have done on mates cars.

Impressive to say the least.

Most people just buy the kits, generic aftermarket engine/rims/etc and call themselves car fanatics when all they did was basically a glorified lego-building session.

You actually put a good amount of work modifying your car.

Good job Mike. You did a great job. I'm jelly :p

Very well done. So much better than my brother in laws work which honestly isnt anything great anyway. Will be bringing my !997 Commodore back to a decent state in a few years i think.
