I'd have to use it to pay to feed my little brother and sister.

I guess the moral of the story is... In today's world, what used to seem like a lot of money really, isn't.
I can't agree with you more. If you think about it, even a million dollars wouldn't be worth much in the real world. After paying for rent, for gas, for food, the bills etc...well...*shrug* I think any money I'd get would go to making my life a little less stressful when it's bill paying time. Then...loads of comic books, games, and treating a few friends to dinner.

This would be true if banks in America weren't only offering about 0.5% interest annually... I don't know about you, but I can't live off of 5 grand a year. Possibly could work out if you could some how invest and make a solid 5% return annually. (That's about what I make in my 401k and I hedge about 50% bonds, 20% U.S. Mid Cap Technology, 20% U.S. Large Cap Health, and 10% International. My goal is to just beat the rate of inflation on half of it to "beat" another market crash and the other 50% to try to make money on...)A million dollars would go a long way if people know how to invest and spend wisely.
High interest accounts and living off the interest comes to mind.

If I won a million dollars, 5 grand a year would make a world of difference. Mainly because I'd keep working
Not that I'd get 5k after tax anyway.

I was thinking about how much money can change someone's life.
I think that $1000 is a huge sum of money, especially if you do not have a job / are a student. It can help pay rent, buy school books, pay school fees etc.
What does $1000 mean to you?
$1000 to me i'd put that down at the W and have one hell of a night.

If I didn't have to worry about any of that, I'd put it towards a car for myself.
