tl;dr: Why are you even in this thread?

I've been reading topics about the newly release NC Mall 5th Birthday Cap. If you are unfamiliar of NC, these special once in a year caps gives a chance the most in-demand NC items in the history of NC.

The list can be found here: http://www.sunnyneo....ameid=4150#item

A user from another forum posted this message:

*Grumble Grumble*

TNT has decided to cause NC values to plummet further by re-releasing essentially every item of value in their birthday caps again. All New Years BG's, Hairbow Dress, Blooming, Whimsy, KI Sword, CC Path BG, Flower Wings, GULP, Here lies Fluffy, Paper Lantern Staff, Pretty Little Daisy and Radiant...just to name a very few...

For those unfamiliar with NC, some of the items listed above range around 30 cap values where each cap is 150 NC. If you do the math, [30 Caps] x [150 NC/1cap] x [1 USD / 100 NC] = 45 USD for just one NC item. And in the past, crazy NC collectors (I know personally) spent over 60 USD (in one way or another) to get just one of these items. These NC items are, needless to say, valuable.

I know most of you don't care about NC, but I know handful of you hate TNT for being money [input derogatory insult name here]. Just like Premium, this is another method for them to get cash money.

I apologize in advance for making you read this, but I'm just angry at TNT not at the reason that they'll be making more money this way, but rather because this capsule is a complete slap in the face to their loyal customers who stuck with NC from the very beginning. I finally lost any trace of respect for TNT's belief in treating its loyal members with any form of respect.

Legit or not, real money was used to buy these NC items in the past. These capsules are giving an opportunity to complete newbies to get these precious items which devalues the pride, hard work, and collecting integrity of the loyal and soon-to-be regretting NC collector. The capsules aren't even on sale for the general public and now the once coveted New Years in Faerieland and other items are being up for trade without hesitation.

Personally, I was never invested with NC to the point where I actually used the money of my parents or from my RA job, but I do pity the NC Collectors (whom I'm friends in-game) who are true loyal NC addicts who go the rare items when they were first released.

That's my rant.

While I do feel bad for the collectors who've traded for the items at their inflated values, I feel like inflation in the NC Mall was simply going completely out-of-control. People have just been getting greedier and greedier for their items, and in this case? I feel like the collectors are more the moneygrubbing (or rather capsule-grubbing) people rather than TNT. I used to be pretty into NC Trading, and trying to get one of the more popular items has been one of the most infuriating experiences I've had on this site just because of how rude and greedy people were, and that's including regularly selling UBs on the trading post.

Unpopular Opinion: The same thing happened with TNT's interference that lead to the deflation of Krawks & Draiks. I personally feel that in both these cases, some people got royally screwed, but the deflation was an improvement for the overall population. Maybe now people will trade for items they like and want at reasonable rates rather than trading and hoarding for status.

I was never really into NC until i bought a neocash account and started customizing and i realized that by dressing my pets, i loved my pets more.
how deflated are the items now? i mean i know that NY in FL is one of the most popular items, 60 caps before, how much is it now?
and are other items inflating?

So you think this cap will do more bad than good to TNT's sales and some loyal people may stop buying NC?

NY in FL has literally gone from 60 caps to 20, and possibly even 15. It's really hard to say at this point as it seems like these capsules have been extremely generous with bonuses. It will probably end at around 10~ while the caps are still around, and re-climb to around 20~. If it doesn't get released again, it might go back to 30-40. But it's probably going to take a while. :p

I agree with most of Slowpoke's post though. Unfortunately there's nothing really we can do. Someone is going to lose out on it while someone else is going to gain. So if you never traded / bought NY in FL in the past, or traded a NY in FL in the past for a ton of other items, consider yourself extremely lucky! :)

PS: This might discourage the "long-time" loyal collectors. But for every collector, there's also a newbie who's willing to spend that money to get in on these used-to-be rares. So technically, TNT is probably not losing out much on this. In fact, they probably made more money by doing this because people are buying more capsules. :p

The chances for those items are going to be super small now that they know they're popular to get some more $$.
More good than bad

It annoys me that it costs ~$60 to get a single item. Hell, it annoys me that it now costs ~$60 for what was sold for $1.50. I don't think anything should be retired from the frigging mall in the first place. There are items out there that I would love for my pets since the items themselves are beautiful, but there's no way it's fair to ask for that much money for one thing. I don't understand the entire status thing, it's a fucking game! I just want to make my creatures look pretty, and it's bloody difficult to do that when all the pretty things are outrageously priced. I don't buy into the whole "omg noobs will have things that were once super rare" crap, I don't care who has what. I wish TNT would deflate all their rare NC so that I'll actually be able to afford the things I want without having to starve myself for a week. I earn ~$600 per month, so that is no exaggeration. /end rant

In my opinion, TNT's sales will grow. The beginners will buy their hearts outs to be on the same level as the NC Elite. The NC elite are probably drowning in the their own addiction to NC and probably refuse to catch air of the situation to even consider quitting. Gosh, I've seen people buy 80, 100, and 200 of these capsules >.< before even released to the general public that has not spent more than 100 USD equivalent on NC

I'll keep this short and simple.
As an avid NC collector, I don't give a shit about the integrity or hard work of other NC collectors. If I can spend 10 caps to get NY in FL, then hell yes I am excited.

What you need to remember is when these items came out, they costed just as much as new items now.
So why the hell am I going to spend NC to buy 60 GBC to trade for a Background someone paid $1.50 for?

Also, if people are trading NY in FL to begin with, the whole "Poor pitiful NC Collector" image goes out the window.
It's not collecting if you trade it.

HOLY SHIT! The caps are on sale all the way until the end of the month. This will be interesting. How low can the value of these rare items drop?

Seems like a lot of people will be happy getting the NC item of their dreams. I feel like even I can get a NY in MI before then and I have trouble trading NC

Lol most NCers, bottomline, are greedy people.

They say 'Oh, people should just trade for what they like instead having this specific cap system.'

But, then it's these same people who will trade for every last GB Cap they can out of you.

Just get the NC item you want and run!

I've never been too invested in NC because almost everything (or at least the large majority) are wigs, dressed or they are sparkly and fluffy.
While I may be a gay man and I have no problem liking "girly" things, the NC Mall beats it's like a dead fucking Uni.

You maybe see 1-2 "non-girly' items for every 25 girly ones.
I have no female pets (Have no interest in them)

On to another note, I agree with Woug and it's been my argument form the start. People are fucking crazy if they think I'm going to pay 300GBC for something (more than $300?!) for a SINGLE item that can only be used by one of my pets. That's just insane. $300 for a wearable background? No thanks.

Especially when they only paid a few bucks for it to begin with!!

NCers make the prices on UC pets look like pocket change sometimes. I've never met anyone more greedy or elitist, and I hang out on the Pound Chat and TP/Shops boards.

Also like to add. You can't act like item inflation is some sort of Loyal User Perk.. TNT didn't inflate the items value.
The users did. Out of GREED.

TNT /does/ give perks to Loyal Users, it's called Elite Boutique.

Well, I'll agree with those who have said it's INSANE to buy something for $300 when the person who's selling it bought it for about $1.50. If I want a capsule, I"ll buy it. Just like if I want FQC's I'll buy them (I"ve got about 18 of them left). It's your decision if you want to buy the capsule or not, if you don't like that capsule you don't have to buy it.

You've pretty much summed up my feelings about this in your last couple of posts. I get why people are pissed but whining that the pretty pixels you paid $1.50 for 5 years ago can now be purchased again for $1.50 is pretty pathetic.
