As a housewife (homemaker, really, but whatever), I have a lot that I would like to say about this subject.

Does anyone ever feel like their bra really holds them back from being in a good mood or having fun? If I wear an uncomfortable bra I am just in the worst mood, especially if the underwires itch at the sides of my boobs. I've discovered a love for Victoria's Secret lately and now I can't wear ANY OTHER BRAS comfortably. I'm spoiled for life!

When you're a feminist, you're making a political stance. Not an individual one. Being a slave owner may be a fully informed choice that you benefit fully from, but don't pretend that you will be considered an ally of the abolitionist cause when you actively benefit from it and accept it in your life. You may like being a housewife and you may choose to do it, but it doesn't change what the institution of the housewife is, the conventions its based on, and the power dynamic that it perpetuates.

The gender expectations we have on women, their beauty standards, their sexual restrictions, our perception of their skills and abilities- they're all based on one thing, and it's the role of the house wife. Everything in patriarchal society can be traced back to the construction of the monogamous stay-at-home wife. Y'all can't call yourself feminists and play along with patriarchy at the same damn time.

I don't think I've ever seen such densely packed assertions.

Oh my god, it's like we have the same breasts! I hate the underwire, especially if it pokes your armpit.. I do love VS also. Allows my girls to breathe and also gives them a youthful perk.

But we don't, your boobs are perfect and the same size. My right one is bigger than my left. We've established this!

What do you do to keep your mind busy when you're doing "menial" tasks (as kami12 put it) around the house? Since what we do at home isn't particularly thought-provoking or intellectually stimulating sometimes I feel like I'm getting dumber by the second when I'm not engaging my mind while I'm, for example, washing the dishes or changing shitty diapers. Does anyone have a solution to this?

This conversation is a good example of both the rampant idiocy and the vapidity that patriarchy both expects and welcomes from women.

Wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of the women discussing here are actual housewives. :agree:
