No. o.o
My bad sarah...I knew you hacked and weren't priv.
I just think that some people need an alternative hacking site except for mpc (and obviously most people that hack maplestory are private or higher because that will now have this hacking section, but for those who aren't...)...why? Because mpc is full of keyloggers and EFFIN POPUPS like crazy =P Obviously this is not going to change anything, and I'm very happy that the Maplestory section is expanding, just giving my opinion . Good luck.

And me. And I believe Eeyore said she didn't either.
I agree with what's been said though about only allowing privs+ to have access to hacks. It would just get confusing as to who has access and who doesn't.
I like this idea of re-doing the section Good on ya Joe for pushing for it.
I certainly don't, downloading the damn stuff confuses me, nevermind anything else .
Anyway, those of you that aren't happy that it's priv+, gives you all the more incentive to be good and active little cherrubs so when private apps role around you might get in .

I'll say it again- one day when you guys are all grown up, you'll have private status, and life will be magical again.

Perhaps I should further explain the decision.
First of all, currently, all the hacks we have are also available at other sites.
So whining about losing access to them is frankly stupid.
If you don't like the Ad-ridden MPC, then why not try the CE Forums?
Secondly, when our own programmers start writing bypasses and the like for us, it is the staff's opinion that the time and effort invested in these programs warrants them to be Private+
This ensures only the most deserving, and the most trustworthy members get access to them.
If you had spent hours and hours on a program for a forum, would you be happy if any old pleb off the street could come along and use it?
Thirdly, having our hacks area accesible by having a certain post count would be likely to make us a target for possibly hundreds of rabidly spamming leechers, now that MapleStory is becoming more of a part of the site as a whole.
K?

As you say, Trevor, you don't play Maple, so I'm not sure how you can form a valid opinion about something you have zero involvement with.
Perhaps I should further explain the decision.

Why not make a Private area and a Member area for hacks so everyone is happy. When a programer makes something they don't want everyone to have they post it in private...

Deserving people -get- into private. That's the thing I think you guys are missing here. You can't just come to codex, make 500 posts and automatically assume you are so worthy! Yes! A lot of people agree, some non-private members do deserve priviledges, but they also should go through what every other member has gone through on this board- and that is wait 2 two months, apply for private, get in, and get codex bonuses.
You see? >_< Joe makes the point better than me...

That's why I proposed an invite system. Remember?
However, it turns out that invites would be impractical, and far too hard to implement.
So, whilst -some- advanced members may deserve to see the hacks section, not all of them do, and as such, the cutoff was set at the rank above; Private.

Yes, but no offense, whilst your opinion is in every way valuable, were we to rely on what non-private members thought, the private rank becomes somewhat redundant in a way.

I must not be deserving xDDD
I know some of the non-privates deserve to see the hacks.

Why don't we make it so everyone can see them who is registered? >.> Like it used to be?

Jeff, not everyone doesn't get into private first time, I didn't Nor did Joe. Deserving isn't a click of the fingers babe You'll get in, if you work hard enough at it.
Also: why *can't* it just be open to private + ?
I'm failing to see what's so terrible about it

-cough- you mean 3rd time? -cough-
Don't worry, you guys are doing a great job with this...iono...I'm just mad that people that aren't priv+ and kind of losing access to the maplestory section...why? Because before this all hacks were public =/

With a change in the section comes a change in permissions.
When the section was fully public, regs were closed.
Thus, no filthy leechers.
When regs were opened, it was made Adv+ to protect our IGNs from the fresh new members.
This had the downside of closing the -whole- section off to new members.
Some of them never even knew we have a Maple section.
So, here is our compromise.
We're trying to make Maple a much bigger part of the site.
Obviously the first step is to open up the section again.
But then we still have the identity issues.
So we split it up a bit, and have an Advanced section, right? Cool.
But, we don't want it to stop there.
If, according to plan, our programmers show an interest, we're going to start getting our own exclusive Maple progs.
Now, the Maple community is generally far more spammy on cheat sites than Neopets players.
Do you want to be overrun by people spamming to 500 posts to get our extremely awesome hacks? Didn't think so.
