I like MMA but I don't watch it enough to really call myself a fan..so I don't know who Jake Shields, Henderson, or Jose Aldo are :/

Lightweight division is considered more exciting because the fighters can actually go the distance.

Silva vs. Maia was an absolute abomination to the pride of fighting...

I saw an opportunity near the end where Maia could have made a statement... had the Ref forced Silva to stand and fight instead of evading.

Dan Miragliotta is perhaps one of the worst refs in MMA. anderson silva fight was such an ass that he made Dan seem like the good guy.

Agree w/ Miragliotta comment. If you haven't already, check out the Askren vs Thomas fight from Bellator 14. We may have found a match for Miragliotta.

Bad referees remind me of TNT.

Haha at least in the UFC, Dana White points out the cases of bad reffing whereas TNT bans anyone who even ponders bringing it up.

On a side note, do you think DW will really cut Silva if his next peformance is shit?

I think as long as Silva has the belt he's safe, but if/when he loses it, he may not be getting booked again.

He'd be greatly humbled if he loses though... for a while.

Or act like he is.

The way he acts really seems fake after watching the Maia fight.

I'd be surprised to see him lose it. We'll probably need a guy that'll deliver a one punch KO rather than a wrestler. Silva seems good at scrambling and on the ground, but even Maia caught him off guard and seemed to stun him for a bit.

But we've seen Silva worn out. If someone can survive the first 2.5 rounds, they have a chance of knocking his ass out/down.

Unless they can find someone to do what Hughes did to Gracie.

Yeah, but he has never eaten any hard punches so we don't really know how good his chin is. All it may take is one punch. We saw in the last round that Maia may have actually done some damage to Silva, who was retreating.

Silva needs to stop getting matched up with BJJ specialists.

If you're referring to Matt Hughes vs Renzo Gracie, that was the dumbest fight in all of MMA. Two ground fighters doing stand up and one of them has a huge cardio problem. Its like fish attempting to walk on land.

He's probably referring to Matt Hughes vs Royce Gracie, where Matt actually caught Royce in an armbar. Royce didn't tap (seems to be a pride thing with the Gracies apparently), and Matt ended up beating the BJJ expert via TKO in the first round.

Oh yeah but seriously, what did they expect from that fight? Royce Gracie had already retired for so long and if I'm not mistaken, that fight was during Hughes' prime. That fight was when Hughes was welterweight champion, I think.

Renzo needs to stop competing too.

Roger Gracie is 28 and in his prime. Hes won multiple BJJ tournaments and is now fighting for Strikeforce. I'm interested in seeing how he'll do.

I wonder if the Gracies have gotten better or worse over the decades. They surely have become less dominant in vale tudo and MMA but that might just be because more and more people are going into the sport.

Heh, less dominant or not, almost every event that involves a Gracie there's always a "holy crap this guy is a Gracie, he's lethal" comment from the commentators.

Speaking of which, does it always seem like Joe Rogan likes to exaggerate? Comments like "world class wrestler", "lethal ground game", etc.
