Ahh GOP hypocrisy at its best

02 March 2011 - 11:45 AM

I like looking for weird news and once again the GOP did not disappoint.

A proposed immigration bill in the Texas state House would make hiring an "unauthorized alien" a crime punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine, unless that is...

... they are hired to do household chores.

According to, Reuters, "House Bill 2012 introduced by a Tea Party member state Rep. Debbie Riddle wants Texas to institute an Arizona-style immigration law -- hiring an undocumented maid, caretaker, lawnworker or any type of houseworker would be allowed. Why? As Texas state Rep. Aaron Pena, also a Republican, told CNN, without the exemption, "a large segment of the Texas population" would wind up in prison if the bill became law. "It is so common it is overlooked."

She also, made headlines last year when she claimed unnamed FBI officials had told her that pregnant women from the Middle East were traveling to America's as tourists to give birth and then raising their children to be terrorists who could later enter the U.S. freely as citizens -- so-called "terror babies," a devious offshoot of "anchor babies."

Hmm...I mean really? Are politics getting that bad?

New Wiki Leaks

18 January 2011 - 12:03 AM

Anyone trying to get a government job, I would not read it...Its only a news article, but the real memos I would not read..XD The Government does not like this, according to some release reports.

Wiki Leaks and Swiss Bank

And like my sub-title, at this point should we even be surprised?

A Swiss banking whistleblower handed over data on 2000 purportedly tax-dodging individuals and firms. Former Swiss banker Rudolf Elmer, who worked for eight years in the Cayman Islands offshore tax haven, personally gave Assange two CDs of data at a London press conference on Monday.

The information is believed to contain information on around 40 politicians, multinational companies and financial institutions from the United States, Europe and Asia.

Assange said WikiLeaks has so far released just 2.3 per cent of the 250,000 US diplomatic cables it has received and was struggling to process the volume of data.

Sooo, yea we all know capitalism is bad...PoS'ts take all the profit and yet when the market exploded they look towards the government and the people for a handout...so more profit for them.

I just find this highly amusing and can't wait to find out how many dirtbags in Congress and rich CEO's are dodging the government...

Discuss...I personally think Assange can be labeled as a threat to the United States and the charges against him are very serious. But I honestly applaud him for releasing these documents. We have a right to know. Government should be more transparent and held to higher accountability. More importantly, has the government been complicit in these allegations..I think they might have known about this in 2009...

Death Penalty new consideration?

06 December 2010 - 11:13 PM

I have always been against the death penalty, it really is a shitty deterrent to crime. It doesn't work at all, yet I find myself so strangely gravitating towards it in extreme cases. I find myself going, "Dammit, these people need to die a horrible and shitty death and just rot in the ground. No thoughts of afterlife as solace. Let's face it Capital Punishment is deeply flawed in the United States, humans are falliable creatures. Not every case of the death penalty is so clear cut and people, Judges, DA's, Defense Attorneys they all make mistakes and sometimes people die or spend time when they were innocent.

I don't want to delve too far into the mechanics. But rather certain cases.. I really want the death penalty to be used in certain cases, but yet I can't force myself to do so even when some of the crimes are so horrific its just sickening that a sick and depraved individual would be allowed to live when he is a constant threat to the stability of our enviornments.

Am I naive in thinking that people would changer or just damn stupid for not wanting the death penalty to be used, although I would like it too.

This really happened less than a couple of blocks away from me.

"A registered sex offender(Yup, he was charged with sexually assaulting, not rape for no penetration, a 7 yr old before around 7 years ago, was charged Friday with sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl in a Dollar Tree store."

On Jan. 15, 2003, he exposed himself "while he simultaneously held down a 7-year-old female victim and pulled down her pants" while living at a Hayward apartment complex, according to records.A neighbor heard the girl's screams and intervened before Ramos could rape her, according to the records. Ramos returned to his apartment immediately after the attack, where he later told officers that he liked the girl "like a girlfriend," according to records."

After the incident, Ramos was diagnosed as a schizophrenic. He was ruled incompetent to stand trial until 2005, when he pleaded no contest to attempting to have sex with a minor and was sentenced to four years in state prison

Within 20-30 seconds, he committed his next crime, Ramos had the child pinned down in the aisle and was sexually assaulting her when he was spotted by the grandmother, police said. The child's pants and diaper had been removed and she was being straddled Ramos, who had pulled down his pants and underwear, police said. A freaking 2 year old..

With someone being mentally incapable of their actions and even my beliefs on the death penalty, I just don't know why. This is beyond sick....

And you don't want to even hear other stories I have learned/read about in my other Law classes..

here are some other crazy stuff...Read at own risk.

Do you know your God?

28 September 2010 - 01:39 PM

I just found this rather amusing, especially in the US where now religion is playing a bigger role in politics.

"A new survey of Americans' knowledge of religion found that atheists, agnostics, Jews and Mormons outperformed Protestants and Roman Catholics in answering questions about major religions, while many respondents could not correctly give the most basic tenets of their own faiths."

"Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn't know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ."

"More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation."

I would say its biased..Why? Because of course Atheists will know more about religion than any other group. It is because they are Atheists. =P

I just find all this stuff fascinating since a nation's collective psyche is mildly amusing...although very quite sad.

Take the test and see how you do.
