The showers at the gym I go to are stalls. I never see naked people hanging around. Everyone changes in their stalls.

Something about that just seems a little over the top. Maybe it's just because I'm comfortable with my body, but I feel like actually changing in the shower stall is... well, ridiculous.

I think the best way to solve this situation is to go in balls deep. Instead of timidly slinking into the shower, just roll in there and be like "what's up?!". You'll probably find it's not half as bad as you think it is. It's like jumping into really cold water.

They take a little bit to get used to... I used to be terrified when I was younger of public showers... just seemed awful. I've since grown very happy with my body and personal image and it's really not that big of a deal any more... I mean, it's still kinda uncomfortable depending on if it's old creepy fat men or people your own age...

Never had to deal with public showers at our YMCA and school. Generally here all the showers have some sort of little stall and covering so you don't have to see people. Though it could probably be different for everyone. Same at swimming pools.

But generally I am not comfortable with it because I do not like exposing my naked body to the world and I don't like to look at naked bodies showering. That's just me, and that's it. I also find it better just to shower at home as opposed to a public place.

Anyway yeah, this is pretty much something you have to get used to. It's probably weird at first but after a while it's pretty natural, not like every guy in there will spank your ass with a towel or anything.

It's quite interesting that people in Japan and Korea actually bathe in public while sitting on a small stool

I recall high school swim classes being horribly awkward because everyone would try to hide behind shower curtains and the such while changing.
I live with my boyfriend and we shower together on a regular basis, so I probably wouldn't have an issue showering in public now though.

I've never been exposed to public showers either. I have showered with friends in the past, and my boyfriend and I obviously shower together on occasion, but we never had showers at school, and every other public place with showers that I've been to has had private stalls. I don't think I'd have too much of a problem showering in public because I've never felt particularly uncomfortable changing in front of people, but like everyone else, I'm not sure I'd want to be in the presence of fat and/or older naked strangers for too long.

Well I think that's what they're made for since the shower stalls are super huge and it has hanger hooks in there and stuff.

Absolutely, for a couple reasons... outside the obvious "all sorts of shit grows on the floor in there (think athlete's foot)", you'll get folks who'll piss in the shower out of convenience.
