You're sharing your bandwidth, it's like sharing water around your house, if someone is using the faucet while you shower, you'll get less water. Same effect.

Probably because everyone is using cable/dsl for broadband and longer story made shorter isp's prioritize download over upload.

More technically it's because the connections are Asymmetric so packets can only go in or out and not both so they sacrifice upload speed for download speed.

Did you just post your speed and then that question?...

You seem really knowledgeable. For ages I have been looking for ways to apply some sort of limit for other peoples bandwidths if possible. Some of the tenants downstairs really abuse it by torrenting 24/7. Wondering if there are ways to go about doing this

Let me go into more detail about my internet

First know that your speeds are all in MEGABITS where as ill type these out as KILOBYTES

Max Download Speed (Without Exceeding Threshold): 200kb/s
Max Download Speed (After Exceeding Threshold): 5kb/s
Average Ping: 1000ms (1 Second)
Daily Threshold: 200Mb*

*After this is exceed the speed lowers to the value above for a minimum of 24 hours.

We pay 70$/Month

Because of where i live... its pretty stupid to be honest... 2 minutes down the road one way there is fiber optics... 5 minutes the other way is ultra high-speed dsl... we just happen to be on a stretch of road that is between 2 posts -.- I live in a valley with satellite... so EVERYTHING about where i live impedes my ability to get good Internet -.-

I want to write a sympathetic story to the heads of some companies but cant find their personal emails xD If you wanna help me out here are the 3 companies...

To make matters worse, they send me advertisements saying "You now qualify for Fiber Optics Internet" when they should damn well know i dont -.-
