 Because they are rare.  And they aren't that ugly in popular culture.  Most people think they are quite cute, or awesome, depending on the paintbrush.

I restocked a draik morphing potion legitly yesterday made it to the only color I liked of them (Baby) and today...... that account got frozen .__. /sigh
maybe because of the difficulty to get one is why the are popular?

oh man. im sure you probably did something wrong for TNT to freeze you. and i'm sorry but i'll have to voice my doubts tho - restocking mps at magic is insanely hard - not to mention draik mps...

so either you are an accomplished restocker, (which in my opinion, you should mass spam TNT about unfreezing your account), or u got it through illegit means (which is more likely since well.. we are an 'exploiting' website after all).

I don't like Draiks. Krawks are okay. Even with the inflation of NP, they still used to be a LOT cheaper. It's the freaking pound chatters who screwed it up.

To answer the original question - to show off maybe. They'd generally be expensive because as people already wrote you can't create them on pet day, they're rare and they're already expensive at Merifoods etc. and maybe they're even more expensive because people pay even more just to show they can afford it. Just like in real life.
Personally, my dream pet has always been a mutant draik since I've been on Neopets. They looked way cooler before all the neopets beta stuff, though.

I used to really dislike the old Draik's, however since the introduction of customisation my opinion has completely flipped. I have 2 Draik's and I personally like them as they're easy to customise, like others have said they're also viewed as a bit of a "status symbol" although it seems like quite a few people have them these days!

Having said all this I only have two because I brought them on here - I wouldn't spend the NPs on one, and do think TNT needs to do something to deflate the prices as 12mil for a basic coloured pet seems a bit extreme!

Do you mean the NC mall when you say cash shop? TNT would be breaking their own rules if they did that - charging RL money for a item that could also be brought in NPs.

Where are these statements coming from?
I onced AB'ed an egg and this was before schedulers so I only found out after I woke up and went to classes which meant 12 hours of restocking. Most of which were in the igloo. I sold the draik egg asap and nothing even happened to me.

I doubt that you'll get banned unless you AB'ed it on a 3-4 month shell with nothing at all on it. Get some trophies, get some avatars - use goddamn neocodex. Make it at least look like your shells are real.
Yeah, Abrosia is probably the most profitable program but it's not like any of the other programs are super hard to set up or anything.

Yes, they're not bad looking pets though.
They're a lot more well designed then some of the pets I've seen floating around.

Their cuteness level varies depending on color too much for me. I'd still get one simply for reason that it's pretty damn rare.

I didn't say that you would most definitely get iced, I just say that you'd have a high chance of getting iced if you sold off the egg, and sold off the NPs. If TNT does check, consider the account iced because its too obvious.

Its not impossible. my 71month old account got banned for ABing a tasty pie at the pharm. Whats to say about a 3-4month shell getting a draik egg?

Can you guarantee he wont get iced if he signs up to Neo and spends the entire time playing legit? No, you can't, cos TNT freeze people randomly.

I never said it was a huge problem. I said its highly suspicious. And even more so the shell doesn't look legit, like it was created for the purpose of RSing/SSing or whatever other ilegit activity you can think of.

The chances of said account getting banned depends highly on how well you are able to mask your ABing activity, and the value of the AB'ed item. So in my opinion, you escaping with the item depends on how legit your account and buy times looks to TNT, which if you did a good job in making sure your account looks legit, then good for you, you have a pretty good chance of not getting iced.

But yet at the same time one cannot completely guarantee you wont get iced because as you said, TNT freezes people randomly.


What I was merely suggesting to cody was to sell off the egg, and then sell off the nps, just to be completely assured, and that the effort in getting the draik egg wouldn't be completely wasted.

I don't even know how it exploded into a debate, nor was it my intention to start one.

Just because the account is only 3-4 months old doesn't mean the player has never played Neopets before. Get over yourselves.

Yea. exactly. So that could mean a couple of things:

- The user wants to start a new account on neopets after returning, and tries to RS high profit UBs to get NPs as quick as possible.
- A new account created as a side because you are bored with your main.
- Or user could just be new, but very resourceful.
- A Shell created for earning NPs to fund main or sell NPs

(just some i could think off the top of my head)

With all the history of AutoBuyers and the immense number of shells that they successfully caught and froze, which reason is TNT more inclined to believe in?

I'm not trying to disagree with you that a 3-4months old account with a rare item MUST be a shell. Infact, I do agree with you that having a 3-4months old account doesn't mean you're new to neopets. I'm just trying to point out that at the other end, what TNT sees might be completely different.

To each their own, but it does seem like there was a lot more though process involved in the creation of the draik.

I love the lab being able to change pets and colors but I hate how it's so random. It makes naming a pet a lot more difficult.
Like you can name a draik, dragon### but then if you get it zapped to a grundo - people will be like wtf?
