New feature on the way! - In the next few days, we'll be adding Facebook "Like" functionality to parts of Neopets. (Specifically, the homepage, the Games Room, and a few other games.) What this means is that, whenever you see the Facebook "thumbs up" button, you can click on it to like the content on that page. There will also be a link to the Neopets Facebook page in the footer so you can join our shenanigans if you want.

This doesn't really apply to me, because I would never associate my IRL identity to Neopets.
I was a bit annoyed I'd have to adblock a ton of like buttons, etc until I noticed:

If you don't have a Facebook account, or just don't want to use the feature, you can turn it off in your preferences. You also won't see any Facebook functionality if you're under 13. For more info, check out the FAQ. (Be sure to read the question about discussing Facebook here on Neopets!)

So...no big deal to me. Seems a bit hypocritical, considering they silence people who talk about FB on the boards...

But I won't be using this feature, so I'm glad they give the option to disable it.

I can see this catching some mentaly retarded people out in the cheating scene....liking things on multi accounts etc.

Can others see your facebook if you choose to? Or is it just a like option and connect to FB thing? If it's the latter, I don't think many people would use it, if any

They still don't want users seeing each others' Facebook profiles, so you could just like things for your IRL friends to see. So...I don't see anyone really using it.

I generally think FB integration is horrible on most things... do I really care what movie my friend watched on hulu last night? In any case, although we consider the whole thing irrelevant to us, since we don't want to associate a real identity to ABing account, it might help TNT sniff out a cheaters. Everyone always talks about trying to make your side accounts look "real" by having a petpage and collecting avatars, etc... so this is another level of proving a person is only playing on one account only... associate it with your FB. As in... if multiple family members are playing neo and THAT's why you have 3 accounts on one IP, then they should ALL be able to associate it with their FB. If not, maybe it's the same person on all of them.

I don't really see TNT freezing people because they don't have a FB connected with their account...there are still a few people who don't have a FB account. Anyways, even on my (mostly) legit main I don't want to associate my Neo account with FB.

This may be one of the silliest things I've ever heard of.

Just the level of "Holy Shit" involved when you try to police some people, then you give them some freedom....

1. You can mention facebook
2. You can't tell people how to find your facebook

So the only real facebook functionality they're adding is a link to their own facebook and some free advertising if you like something.

Fuck this noise.

TNT is making it sound like this is some earth shattering news or something. It's just worthless, and pointless considering many people who play are still too young to have a facebook, and the ones who are older and have one are against playing on a "kids site".

I agree, actually. I, for one, don't even tell my friends I play Neopets... let alone let the entire fb community know? I would never link a main to that! On the other hand, I can forsee people creating guides for having shells that say "if you want to look legit, connect it to a fake facebook page!"

Not a bad idea. Certainly couldn't hurt. I have several trolling Facebook accounts anyways...

That's exactly what I was going to say; I'm not going to accounce it and try to recruit them as it's probabbly either too childish in thier eyes or too complicated when it comes to the cheating community
