Ohhhh you can do a million very simple and entertaining games with java, even por cellphones!!
You should start doing a puzzle.. is kinda simple to do and you'll find it satisfactory when it's done.. and i sure there are plenty of guides in the web of how to do it..
Now, if you are on to something much more fun.. maybe you can try something like RPG style.. so. you have pictures of characters to choose (not hard). Different attributes they can have (class atributes). And maybe you can make them fight for glory (?) and for example.. make them fight and take strenght as a vital attribute to take the fight.. Then.. cause you are in a mountain (?) the primal factor is intelligence.. so now the character who wins is the more intelligent one. So.. it's up to your imagination. You can put pics for your chars.. you can maaaaaybe make some flash videos or something for the battle part.. and it's not really hard to code

PS: Try net beans for a graphic ide.. it made my life easier (L)

i settled on a simple game of falling balls. you control a character and try to avoid getting hit by the balls. every 10 seconds the speed will get faster and the game will be paused. you answer a question and then you resume the game. if you get it correct, speed stays the same. if wrong then speed will get faster and of course the questions will be harder.
