Should posts in the Trading Post not count?

I know theres already a thread here, but its kinda old and I still want to bring it up again.
Not only that, I would like to add a poll to show the public's opinion.

Half of the people never actually read up here, but then again, most don't even read the giant text at the top of the Trading Post.

    Honestly, no.
But posts should be moderated more closely.
+ Theres no real backlash of spam posting other than an angry/well intoned PM.
In one particular forum there is a post reset if too much of a persons post is spam. If this was enabled I think people would be more cautious of what they post.

This actually never bothered me :p There should be the option "It doesn't matter to me either way" in that poll. Somehow, the messages make the thread seem more alive, you know that something's going on in there. I've seen ghostly threads, which only have bumps as extra posts (like mine, which is now dead). It also gives some sort of an idea as to how fast the thread starter is getting back to the people who pm'd, so I figure I can expect a timely response from someone who pm'd others quickly. I'd still like the pm'ing messages to go on, so if taking the post count off for it makes people happy, then I'm all for it. Ghostly threads are scary :sorry:

There is an "it doesn't matter to me either way" option. It's called not voting. Posted Image

And I think they shouldn't count precisely because a lot of those posts are bumps.

Bumps that are posted that get appended to the user's previous post (when there are no other posts in between) do not count as posts. If the person is continually bumping their thread, and no one is responding, that person's post count won't go up. Unless it glitches and adds it as a new post.

They should count but there should a 'bump post' feature. ;)

thanks for the info on bumping. That wasn't something I'd seen yet.
And I didn't realize that null voting actually *did* anything. I thought it just let you see the results. That explains why there are sometimes clearly ten votes but it says 11 people have voted. *minor epiphany*

The double negative in the poll question is confusing. :p

I like the way Ladida thinks c:
@ Grapevine. I agree, trading does have a purpose. And the majorit of us (I think) joined to well, trade.

    Either way
This board is going to be biased.
The people who trade frequently= They are likely to disagree for multiple reasons (cbb stating them)
The people who do not trade frequently, but post in other sections= They are likely to agree, as they don't really have much to lose.
    I'm just generalizing here.

i agree with waser. the poll question should be rephrase due to the double negative.

i feel that it is alright for trading post to be included in post count as it is active contribution to the community to me. It benefits both sides the buyer and seller and they may not even be here for ABer after all. Selling 1-2m NP in others will get them the advance anyways

I voted no and I trade very frequently. However, I don't post on the trading boards much

BECAUSE I TRADE THROUGH PM'S. The only time I post is to enforce a few rules or bump my own topic. I haven't replied "PM'd" or "PM me" in... I don't think ever.

Its because there are so many noobs who do exactly the same thing by posting "PM me" and" PM-ing" etc that all the older members just gave up.
Whats even worse is that most of them don't stop after being told to do so

    Actually I think its more
This board is going to be biased.
The people who abuse the TP for posts = They are likely to want the posts to count
The people who follow rules = They are likely to agree, as they aren't really losing or gaining anything.

[#10355] You must cast your vote in each question of the poll.

It's not letting me vote No so add another vote to "No"

I'm getting the same thing now. I think it's because he changed the question to get rid of the weird negation (the question was originally "should they NOT count?"). It might be wanting an answer to both the old and the new question. I don't really know how that works.

Yeah the first version of that question was worded so awkwardly I was thinking the results might have been skewed.

How do you expect me to take this poll seriously if it's been fudged up like this? 23 people voted, and there's only 2 votes for No, 0 for Yes? Come on.

Posts no longer count in the Trading Post area, for reasons that there is a high proportion of 'bumping' that goes on in that area, which really have less subject matter in them than Chit-Chat posts.

    Closed.
