Simple solution is to move up the programs to private/retired+ and make people apply for them. lolololol Neocodex riot

And a very steady influx of retarded applications from everyone and their mother who want the programs.

On the bright side we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore! Leave it up to people like Laser and Joe.

He's not as bad as that "Christian" debater kid here, who constantly bitched against everyone in the religion debate until he got 500 posts and left.

Though, it was a more original way to get to 500 posts compared to others.

Is there anyway to cap the amount of posts you can make in a day that goes toward that 500 goal? Like say there is a way to cap it off at 15-20 posts per day, and anything after that wouldn't count?

    That's actually a good idea

    post cap = ?
    If the user isn't advanced:
If user hasn't reached post cap, posts add to post count, else they wouldn't add

    Else (if they are advanced):
    Every post increase post count.

That shouldn't stop non-advanced people wanting to chat/help, but it would automatically stop spammers that only want t get to 500
And advanced people wouldn't get penalised at all.

No, it's not. No point in trying to decrease activity is there?
What you classify as spam most us classify as bullshit.

    Theres a huge difference.

I remember when we used to have 100 posts a day competitions and it used to be worthwhile.

Now because a couple of n00bs are spouting shit, the other n00bs are bitching.

cool story. I don't think it's necessarily going to decrease activity, but that plan is full proof just a thought I put out there. Just keep is as usual i think? Report for spam, and wait. 100 posts a day contest lol must be hectic

It will decrease activity on a daily basis, people going for 500 will stop at 15-20 and wait till the next day, a continuous cycle of pointlessness. 100 posts contests were during the days this site needed the activity.

well it might just filter out the people who just want to use this site for their own good and not getting to know the people who helped develop everything right? Hasn't there been a thread already talking about this in great detail?

I completely doubt it would filter that, it would just be less stupid posts per day. Good for us but not what the admins want. And yes there has been talks about this, plenty of them.... it always ends up being activity is the most important so who gives a rat's ass.

How about, no matter how many times people post in a week, only five posts from that week count towards your official 500 post count for advanced membership.

    365 days in a year = 52 weeks
    52x5 =260.
    = 1.92 years to get 500 posts.

That's essentially telling anyone without a credit card to go away.

I actually agree on huevoquilmes's idea. Lessening the amount of posts needed to reach Advanced Status and needing a certain amount of reputation points seems like a good idea. That would lessen the amount of pointless spam posts *cough danielfromburn cough* needed to reach the number of posts, and the reputation needed would be good so that old members have the power to promote a new member to advanced if they like the new member and think that they are contributing to the forum.

But still, the admin have the last word on these propositions Posted Image

This is a forum and a forum is meant for people to have fun in. I do not make posts that contain only "." or anything of that context, THAT, would be spam. All I really did was behave EXACTLY how I behave on other forums, giving my two cents' worth on anything where I feel comfortable. And FYI I do contribute, however minimal it might have been, I definitely have helped out, at least. But well a reputation system would be a good idea, although a good way to introduce it would need to be thought of.

I don't care what you say. Obviously you were only aiming for advanced member status when you were posting. After you reached advanced status, the amount of activity you showed here extremely decreased which I feel is good, since I hate to see your pointless posts a lot. You even posted in my Trading Post thread where you obviously were'n't interested in buying a pet, since there wasn't even a follow-up. "Are the pets BD-able" my ass. IF THEY WERE BD PETS I WOULD HAVE NOTED THAT, DUMBASS.

Now back to topic, the reputation system would be good but I do believe that if there is a way to increase rep, there should also be a way to decrease rep, to help mitigate the amount of spam. A rep decrease could show the poster that their post wasn't useful and they could improve their posts based from that, if they wanted to reach the certain amount of rep to reach advanced.

Unfortunately for your lack of open mindedness, people do forget to quote their stats even if they're reasonably well BD-able. Would you contact only one person if you wanted to buy something? Only an idiot would do that. But well, this shall be the last thing I say to you, wouldn't want to ruin the atmosphere around here. Let me just leave you with this - "People who hate are empty inside"

Why not? If the person is selling it at a better price than the others, why would you not try to just contact them alone first?
