So i was just kind of curious. How often do you engage in physical activites (horizontal dancing in the bedroom does not count) a week, and what sort of things do you normally do?

For me, i work out approximately 1 and half hours every weekday at the gym. Sometimes i have a badminton game or i head over to the pool to do laps.
On saturday, i play indoor volleyball for around 3 hours and sunday i have competitive badminton games.

I do train and do the occassional marathon here and there. So roughly i'm looking at more than 13 and a half hours a week for sports and exercise, unless i'm feeling lazy and not wanting to go to the gym for 1 or 2 days. :p. I used to do martial arts (once on tuesday, thursday and saturday but school cut those away), and i've been a practitioner since i was like 5. So if anyone has any questions regarding those, share the love!

Also, if anyone has any queries in regards to sports and fitness (nutrition, workout regiments, recommended sports) feel free to post your questions here and lets see i we can rally the community to answer your questions. :D

Outside of the biking to work and back, I don't partake in many physical activities.

Really silly, but I'm not one to care about my physical health much.

The last time I exercised, (cycling) was half a year ago. Between then and now, there's only dog-walking and walking home from school. Which is about 5 minutes each. Other than that, nope. I'm a couch potato, through and through.

depends if i'm free that day, but I usually swim at least once a week for at least 2 hours, then run from anywhere between 1-3 hours.
I try to fit in some core strength training right before I sleep.
I'm a bit of a slacker nowadays, no

Gym one day, pool the next, everyday. I tend to do top half first day then swim the next. Bottom half the following session and then swim. Then back to do it all again. The price you pay to keep in shape but its ohhhh so worth the end results :)

30 pushups and situps a day with the odd cycle every month or so. Easily under 1 hour a week.

I try to work out for at least 45 minutes a day, but to be honest it's more like every other day. I just lift itty bitty tiny weights, do crunches, and jog in place in the comfort of my own home, because when I used to go to the gym or the park or anywhere I'd exercise around other people, I'd always get comments about my weight and that bothers me. I just want to work out and not be bothered.

Same here. So, I haven't worked out in forever and I won't until I have my own place.

I spend a bit over an hour at the gym 4 -5 days a week depending on my work out cycle.
The other 3 days a week I go running around my neighborhood.

Then usually, at least once a week, I play ultimate frisbee, basketball, baseball, or tennis later with buddies.
And then 3 or 4 times a month I go mountain biking for between 4-6 hours.

Where is it you two go to work out? That's just blatantly rude if someone is talking about your weight in a gym and I would just ignore them, get straight to the point. (Working out).

When I was actually working out on a regular basis (I.e. I JUST stopped) I'd doing weights for an hour a day, and cardio for 30-45 minutes (alternating, with one day where I do both depending on my work schedule) as one day a week off.

    I miss my 6 pack :(

I've lost 16 pounds in the last 4 months without working out at all :(

Was their comment "If she loses any weight, she will blow away in the wind?" Because any statement besides that doesn't apply to you two.

Actually, yes. :/ I have a very hard time keeping my weight up, even though I eat like a pig. I have really tiny wrists and such, so whenever I work out or say i'd like to people always freak out and say exactly that. But, I don't want to lose weight.
I WOULD however like to gain some muscle and tone my body, and boost my energy levels. : P

And I would feel way more comfortable doing this in the privacy of my own home, thanks to those people. xD

Metabolism's a bitch. I eat probably twice the amount you do and most likely do half the physical activities you do; I don't gain weight. The last time I was gaining weight involved me working out 7+ hours a week, not something you can easily tie in daily life.

I go to the gym 4 days a week, run 2.5 miles and 3 weight machines (3x15) each day, so about 10 miles a week on the treadmill. Plus I walk to class and back each day so that's another 2 miles each day.

Plus getting it on 3+ days a week but you didn't want to know about that :p

Yes, I want to gain weight. I wanted to throw on a bit of chub before I have the time to start working out a lot again.

    6'1 180 lbs

    Both are rough measurements.

Damn you all and your high metabolisms, i have to watch what i eat constantly, except on the weekends where i pig out on whatever i want to and then punish myself the following week for the indulgence. :S

For those of you who are trying to pack on weight, healthy weight, strength training is the way to go. You can work out for 45-60 minutes each time, and rest consecutive days. So monday, wednesday and friday. Make sure you do heavy weights that have less reps per set, and dont rush them. Each swing/pull should take 2-3 seconds to complete to really feel the burn. After your workout, consume protein and carbs immediately but no later than 30 minutes after your work out for the best gains. The easiest way to measure a good balance initially is a 2:1 protein:carb balance. This will make sure that the food you consume will be put to increasing muscle mass instead of burning off uselessly into heat (damn you!)

You should also try to eat more frequently in the day. I always munch on something every hour, but the portions are small, and they will always have some protein in there somewhere. An hour before bed i eat cottage cheese on 4 slices of digestive biscuits, as its a protein thats absorbed slowly by the body.

Where is it you two go to work out? That's just blatantly rude if someone is talking about your weight in a gym and I would just ignore them, get straight to the point. (Working out).

Thats a fantastic attitude. Screw those rude @$$holes who think they're so high and mighty. We were all born fat little babies, and we're all gonna end up skeleton skinny when we die. No one starts out at the gym in fantastic form and shame on those that have the audacity to judge people who were in their shoes. Just ignore them and get on with your work out. The hardest part will be the first month. Once you slog it through with the right attitude and you see how much you've improved, you'll feel better about yourself. :)

Oh, and a rule for gaining as much mass as possible. Stay off the cardio!! If your metabolism is naturally high as well, you'll burn up muscle and fat really fast. If you enjoy cardio sports, limit yourself to maybe 20-30 mins max.

Psh, how is the horizontal monster mash not a work out? My shit's intense. :p

Lol, but yeah I work about at least 30 minutes a day, and make up my time later if I don't have time that day.
I usually walk or bike to work since it's 2 blocks away and I'm constantly moving at work and stand all day.

I mostly just work out to tone and strength training. I have a high metabolism as well so I don't have to work out or watch what I eat, but I still try to.
A few years ago before I started working out as much as I am now I was tired all the time, weak, and never felt like doing anything. Now I feel great.
Being skinny was always awesome, but having the muscle and energy with that is just amazing.

I do about two hours a day, running mostly because of Track/Soccer/XC. Sports in general. A little bit of weightlifting here and there, but nothing very intense.

I need to exercise more than I do right now. My legs are pretty strong because I bike/walk everywhere, but my arms are sort of scrawny, haha. I might start now that I have lots of time this summer.

    And I'm 5' 10" and about 140 lbs. I eat lots and don't gain anything. :p

Sounds about like me, but I didn't expect to be taller than you.Posted Image
