Personally, I think it's quite embarrassing to have others know that you play neopets. Like a teenger or an adult playing neopets sounds very weird and awkward. I have mentioned neopets to my friends before, but they were like, " lol, who plays that game" I never spoke of neopets ever again in public from that moment on lol. So do you get made fun of for playing neopets?
I mean it was cool when you were a 4th grader or in elementary school but it became "uncool" as you got older.

I don't tell anyone except my 8 year old brother. The thing is, now he has a lot of blackmail material because if he wants he can tell everyone I play neopets

when you are pass this age when dota, cs or something like those feel passe, it becomes cool to play neopets again ^^

Occasionally from my husband, but he knows that I mostly only started playing again because of Faerie Bubbles and now I just spend most of my time in the habitarium as a background task while I work. I never talk about what I do online with anyone except for job stuff. I find it's a good idea to compartmentalize life and I've been doing so for a long time.

For me. When people at school see me on it they're just like "OMG! I used to love that site!" and then we talk and then we leave. No biggie. Still. I'll admit this is just with my generation. I don't generally play in front of people who aren't anywhere near my generation to avoid blackmail (younger gen) or thought of as a baby (older gen).

I think you actually presented an appropriate idea to the table that is fully understandable.

I'm in college so if I mention I play neopets, one of three situations happen:

1. Girls who do play neopets squeal and think I'm hot for playing.
2, People who have no knowledge of Neopets just ignores me mentioning it
3. Other people who have knowledge of the site and does not play it anymore can't help but show respect, either in a genuine nodd or a superficial smile.

In college, nobody really makes fun of you for playing since a lot of people do play and intense networking in the community made neopets almost an acceptable norm no matter who you are.

My friends used to play but don't anymore, I think they wouldn't really care because they're the type that play those Facebook games for hours on end, and that's not really any different lol.
My boyfriend knows and he thinks it is cute and I even got him to play a little bit, but he just likes a few of the games and that's it.

It can be seen as a "kiddy" site but people of all ages love games and different aspects of the site.

I think it might be embarrassing only in certain social situations, but it's not like I share any other games I play in that type of environment (such as my job, etc.) so I wouldn't be talking about Neopets either.

when i meet my friends they still ask if im still playing neopets... i stopped for a year but came back to it.. simply cos its fun playing the plots... dota, warhammer, wow are fun in their own ways.. but when i started working.. most of my friends have little time to raid and stuff... so its not fun playing alone... so i came back to neopets... they totally understand and of course we joke about it.. but at the end of the day im not ashame of it... yea occasionally when i turn on abrosia or surf neopets in the internet cafe you get some kids jeering and telling their friends ,"look look that man is playing neopets.. haha.. ".

but its better than them screaming at their friends when things dont go well in a game of LOL... lol

I don't think so, most of my friends are gamers too, and although they don't play Neo, they play other games like WOW that would be as laughable as playing neo.

I've played Neo on and off ever since I was at least 10-11, and I've actually met some friends that I still talk to to this very day, and I've most certainly met some of the coolest people I've ever met on that site.

That being said, being a guy, I think it's a lot harder to tell your friends than if you were a girl. I haven't told a single one of my friends that I play, minus my dad, because, well I use his computer to AB on.

Most of my IRL friends play MMO games, like WoW, and LoL, and I'm guessing that they look at Neo as a 'kiddy' game hence why I keep my mouth shut about it. If they ask though, I'm not gonna deny it. :x

Lol, my course mates all made fun of me for playing neo, but I don't give a damn about them. Because they don't play neo now, they have no idea of all the fun aspects, plus they're just a bunch of egoistic people who think the world of themselves

Yeah, guys that play Neopets are sooo hot

But, well, three years ago, when I took Neopets very seriously and was completely legit, I told my younger sister to join, and everything was ok (although, she then switched to Club Penguin, since all her classmates played it and not Neopets). My older sister found out somewhere in that span of time and did make fun of me, saying stuff like: "What the fuck are you playing! That's for little children, bla, bla, bla...". I then became used to her insults and ignored her.
When I quit, my class and I once where at the computers room and I suddenly remembered about Neopets, so I entered the site, and one friend said: "Oh, wow, I used to play Neopets a long time ago!" then she logged in and showed me her dying Shoyrus, lol.
Right now, while I'm taking it more seriously than 3 years ago, I have done a very good job hiding it, so no one has noticed so far. I just recently found out that one friend used to be a complete MMORPG freak, telling me that he used to play every single online game there was and even got to be a moderator in Runescape, or something. I said "Even Neopets?", he nodded, we both laughed and then he said that it got him bored in about 2 days or so, though. I then just revealed that I just used to play Neopets a lot and... that's all. I have only told two friends about Neopets and me, but they used to be/are gaming freaks, so they don't discriminate me, lol.

If I gave any fewer fucks about what people thought of me and what I do, people would start owing me fucks to give. I've told plenty of people, a few of them laughed, a few just nodded and haven't talked to me since, and one guy just said, "That's pretty cool. Here borrow my PS3." So yeah.

Yeah, I don't give a shit what people think. When I'm not playing neopets, I'm crocheting or baking fake cakes on "Bakery Story". Everyone who knows me, knows these things about me. I'm not ashamed. Friends and co-workers always think I'm sheltered and should go out, drink and party, but I did that shit when I was 16. I'm all grown up now.
