Really? I was told yesterday that it was only available to advanced users. How can I access it? (sorry if this is a stupid question :( )

http://www.neocodex....?app=neotracker

Create a profile then enable it in Abrosia, that's all you need to do.

(congrats on the 500th post)

No, our original goal was that it would be used for admins of other websites that dont have an item database... or other sites that offer other item buying solutions and wish to use it... So far premium keys let you pull raw data from the item database if you dont know how to program then it really does not apply to you.

Well this could definetly be used to our advantage, we dont relaly loose anything by letting them pull this raw data, but in exchange, they can advertize NeoCodex on all of their sites. Our Graphics department can perhaps make a couple of banners or something, and anyone (from an outside Neopets website) who wants to have a premium key to use ourdatabase has to inturn agree to advertive for us. Win win situation. They get their item database data, we get a ton more members, if it's a big site such as sunny neo or TDN for example.

And to answer your original question, I dont know how to program, so i, myself, am not interested, but I think the project as a whole could definetly have it's uses, especially if we want to be able to share this invaluble data with other websites.

I don't see how we would benefit significantly by letting people submit price data to our Item Database, I have no problem with allowing people to pull data out though given that we get suitable returns.

Agreed, but dont we already allow people to input prices and such into our database manually? The problem is: no one really takes the time to do it. I doubt anyone would take the time to do it if they had a premium key ether.

Thanks for the link Waser!

In response to everyone else, I agree that most people won't take the time to input anything in manually, but as pyro said, there would be a way to check who is using the information but not contributing at all so perhaps that would be incentive enough to do even just a little bit.

There already a way to do that, and it dosn't appear to do anything to motivate people to contribute back to the community.

No Internet, only you would do that.

Its not users from other sites; its the admins from other sites that wish to have access to a database that they dont already have. It is more like a collaborative project between multiple sites. It would not be like hading them a set of keys to a car and telling them to have fun :p It would more like being in a driving simulation; where the people running it could control and analyze everything that is going on. All actions that are taken will be logged and be given the option (by admins) to reverse any and all actions preformed. This is our baby; and we wont let people mess with it.

Don't be blaming shit on me <_<
Now I understad, it's like JN's Database but public between site owners.

Exposing an API for the item DB would be a brilliant idea, there is some interesting data that you guys have which can easily be built upon.

Looks like you're on the right lines, but allow me to authenticate with a specified key, not having to pass it around every request I make.

Also, documentation.
