Equation that proves 1=2

Here it is, a proof that states 2 = 1; ( a(a) = a to the 2nd power )

a = b
a * a = b * a
a(a) = ab
a(a) - b(b) = ab - b(b)
^ Factored and divided by (a-b)
(a-b)(a+b) / (a - b) =  b(a - b) / (a-b)
^si'mplfied
a + b =  b
b + b = b (since a = b)
2b = b
2 = 1

Scary stuff huh

(1-1)(1+1)/(1-1)=1(1-1)/(1-1)
1+1=1
1+1=1
2(1)=1
2=1
Just changed the variables to numbers :p .

Actually the factorisation parts are all right; just that you can't divide by zero, which would be undefined (0/0 is undefined, not 0), like what Icey Defeat was trying to say.  :p

Anything divided by 0 is undefined, honest! That's also why you have dividebyzero exceptions in all sorts of programming, technically speaking you can't I'mplement electronically divide by zero circuits either.  :p

But anything divided by 0 or zero divided by anything is therefore 0...
so 0 = 0

Actually, you can't. Lets use an example:

2/0 = 0 ?
So if you reverse it that would mean 0*0=2.

You cannot divide by 0. It is undefined, as Lightsabre said.

Usually, infinity would be what is taught but 'undefined' is the more appropriate term in such a context.  :D

ya I know cept 0/0=undefined because you could say you could divide anything by 0 infinitly or you coudlnt it is considered undefined therefore I win... O_o
