So as I was going though all my old mail I found this one sent in response to one of my old old accounts

Your account has been frozen for cheating. Using any number of cheat programs (auto-refreshers, auto-buyers, auto-fillers, etc.), leaving objects on the F5 key, and cheating in our contests (including the Beauty Contest) are all examples of ways you can cheat on our site.

So just so i'm not crazy it does say that holding the F5 key down is an iceable offence?

No, it doesn't say holding down the F5 key is a feezable offence. It says that putting something on the F5 key (other than your hand/finger) is a freezable offence.

But wouldn't your finger classify as an object?

Well yes, I can, but that doesn't mean everyone else can.

refreshing the same page in order to get random events is against the rules. If you were refreshing in a shop it would be ok, or trades, or auctions. I'm sure they only touch excessive accounts.

Is it? I doubt it would be because it's the only way to find some things like 1-player battledome opponents.

Not it's not...how do you think people get Battledome challengers and avatars like the one where you need to refresh at the Game Graveyard?

It's only acceptable to hold the F5 key down with a stiff, super thin, fingerlike penis. Where's Craigchrist when we need him?

Is it against the rules if that stiff, super thin, finger-like penis is not attached to one's person and would therefore be classed as an object?

I think they are insane and over the top with the rules. They have created an environment where it's almost impossible to compete or succeed unless you cheat (or play 24/7 and are immune to RSI). It's not illegal to use an auto-sniper on eBay, if you've found a more practical way of achieving what you want then go you..it doesn't lead to the death penalty (which is essentially what freezing is on Neopets). When they freeze cheaters they generally make them stop caring about their account and the game...but they don't stop cheating...they just go AB from Battle Magic and use suicide timing. Warnings and suspensions would be much more effective. And really they should be focussing on the people profiting (in other) rather than the people who AB to make money to buy paint brushes, or pay NP for NC cards because they are 10 and they've got all the NP in the world but not Daddy's credit card.

I also think all the restrictions on trading (only pets for pets, only NC items for NC items...and restrictions on the GB's etc) are ridiculous. They've created a thriving economy and then set up debilitating rules. It's like telling Brazil they can only trade coffee for coffee and California they can only trade gold for gold. If they opened up trading on Neopets so that people could trade what they do have for what they don't have then they would have to deal with a whole lot less 'black market' activity that essentially takes money out of their pockets. Instead of someone paying 50 cookies for an UC Pet they would buy 5000NC (money goes to Neopets) or spend an insane amount of time playing games (advertising money goes to Neopets) and trade it legitimately. It's all just....dumb and backwards.

    </rant>

Do you think when I can move to America I can sue them for RSI like that obese person did to McDonalds?

    Also yes probably.

refreshing the same page in order to get random events is against the rules.

Where did you get that idea? :p

People seem to be taking what was said in Editorial 446 (and any other Editorial that may be similar to it) as an okay to go ahead and refresh any page on the site just for the sake of refreshing in order to get Random Events. While I doubt that was actually your intention, would you mind clarifying again whether or not refreshing just to get Random Events that have nothing to do with avatars or Battledome challengers is allowed? ~esomera
You're welcome to refresh the site where and however often you like, as long as YOU are PHYSICALLY doing the refreshing without the aid of your cat/mug/water bottle/robot butler sitting on the F5 key. So, if you want to sit at your computer pressing f5 for 6 hours straight, that's acceptable, though we wouldn't advise it for your own well-being. (Also, to clarify, using any "refresh all" browser functions and the like are also off limits. Again, you must refresh each page yourself or we consider it using an outside force to aid you.)

    Editorial 521

TNT has never once said that refreshing for REs is not allowed (even in previous editorials).

So just so i'm not crazy it does say that holding the F5 key down is an iceable offence?

    /Already answered cX~ but../

Using the F5 button to refresh is a perfectly fine thing to do. What you can't do is lay your cat or some other weight on the F5 button and refresh for Random Events. You need to push the button yourself.

I honestly doubt they'd freeze anyone for holding down the F5 button, unless someone has been doing it for 48+ hours straight or so....

I think they probably just need to establish their rules publicly for the sake of their advertising contracts (people don't pay to show banners to cats or mugs), which I think is fine...so long as they don't actually go and freeze people for dumb stuff like that.

It boils down to if it is every 4.0 seconds, 2.5 seconds... ect... there needs to be variation or you have "laid weight upon F5"

Apparently we were supposed to assume that when they say "You need to push the button yourself." what they are saying is that we have to push and let off the button ourselves and we can't push and hold the button down.
