I like the direction this topic took. I have never once used a <3 emoticon to symbolize love, or an actual heart of any species. I think it's just a stupid thing that kids these days do to try and be "part of the in crowd."

It's a thing that's open to interpretation.
Silly people and young teens often assume that since looks "<3" like a "heart", then it must mean "love."
That's all there is to it, it's just another strange thing in the world of chatspeak.
