Argue, he didn't mention anyone pressing charges...
Sweeney, it wasn't?

Usually when someone is fired from a teaching position for hitting a kid.... charges are pressed.

I don't see any point or reason to not prosecute a person for hitting a child that's not their own, or talking out of line (That last part was a joke, please don't flame me)

I think that if charges had been pressed, he would have testified, and thus mentioning it.
Also, I don't have any problem with smacking a kid when they deserve it.

I'm ok with parents smacking kids (within reason) but reprimanding kids should never be in the hands of anyone outside of family. I can't ever stomach the idea of a teacher hitting a child...thats what detentions and principal's office visits are for. If the kid truly is a trouble child, the parents should be the ones that handle it...

Well, when a kid needs a smack, and the parents just won't do it, someone has to...

That's fair... its just a personal belief, I would not be ok with some stranger smacking my kid. (or be comfortable hitting someone else's kid...hence the reason i could never become a teacher, i dont have the patience to deal with some of the little twits nowadays) I do see where you're coming from though, not sure how I'd deal with a situation when the parents refuse to deal with a poorly-behaving kid.

Im pretty sure everyone has done bad things, but the good people are the ones who learn from it, and the "terrible people" are the ones who never learn and continue to lie, cheat, their way through life
