My old username had something to do with Faith.
I was a good girl, I swear! Although not very active. I poked around on the TP and used a few of the awesome 'grams that are available on this site.
This was...well over a year ago. I've moved since then, from Canada back to ASIA~~~I promise no one remembers me. I'm very unobtrusive.
Anyway, I'm back and nipping at the reins (is that the term?).
Hello ever'body.

Oh! I'm so sad..editing my profile reminds me that I lost all of my reputation. :sorry:

What? When did that change?
And my post counts too, though.
Which wasn't very high, but still much higher than nil.

Reputation was never anything more than a status symbol to brag about.

The post count though, is something legitimate to cry over, though. Posted Image

I think for reputation to matter at all there needs to be a downvote. I suspect some members who have over +1000 rep points would actually have -1000 points if it were the case :whistling:

Either way, welcome!

Maybe it's not reputation I'm thinking of.
I'm talking about the trader rating system we have goin on..or that I remember, once upon a time. Surely that's not all just bragging rights?
Ah well, I'll just...start from scratch! No biggie... (:help:)
You look so familiar, Elindoril.
I'll probably be saying that a lot.
One name pops up clearly in my head though..Georgina. With the pink smokey lips? No?

I'm located in Okinawa, Japan. Courtesy of the US AF.

And thank you for the welcomes :)

I don't think a downvote would be such a bad idea.

I know I have no say, but coming from my non-neocodex-related years of amassing common sensicalityfulness, downvote makes sense. I'm surprised you geniuses hadn't implemented it earlier.

Thanks, James :funone:

I'm pretty sure it's not a standard IP.Board feature.

I've been here for a little while, so I might be.

And yeah Georgina, but she had more than just smokey lips.

Oh, it is (at least, negative reps are). We just figure that too many people will get butthurt over it.

With that said, welcome back to Neocodex Rachel! :)

**Yes, I ninja edited and put "back" in there. :/

And "had"?

She fell of the radar a while ago.

Apparently her "life" was more important.

Thank you! For the welcome and for acknowledging my past neocodex history (irrelevant as it ultimately is in the here and now)

Can it not be made to stay at or above zero?

Yep, the net reputation of a person can become negative. The background on the reputation part of the profile becomes red instead of green, so it also becomes blatantly obvious that they aren't very reputable.

Which would be good if they truly aren't reputable, right?
And, you'd think, it would make repeat offenders think twice.
...as long as people weren't petty, it could work fabulously.

The problem is, some people are petty here, and it would probably get abused. It's fine though, since for the more serious things like rule violations, people receive warns or suspensions. That, or popular opinion of them gets nasty pretty quickly.

You probably won't need to worry about these things though. I hope. :p

Positive reinforcement by itself is not enough to mould an individual's behaviour.

Think about it. Would he who argues be such a parasite if he had -1000 rep points? Surely reaching a certain amount of negative reputation would lead to a eureka moment, when they realise what a pest they are. And we all know you have to acknowledge you have a problem before you can attempt to fix the problem.

He'd make up an excuse about how everyone is just inferior to himself and his superior knowledge and how they just -rep in spite.
