I get A's in almost all subjects but I think school sucks. I already go to art school (3d) after school but I dislike school. Especially stupid subjects like Geography or history. I don't mind going to art school because thats what I like, but school and homework feel like a burden.

Geography, History, Math, and other classes like that are so you can actually learn about the things around you. There's a reason they make you take those classes. There's statistics around somewhere, but I think it's a high percentage of Americans that couldn't even tell you the first 5 presidents, or tell you the capital of the US. Anyways, those are the easiest A's ever, they make you take the classes, but they make it easy. Not like those classes are hard work anyways.

I said school sucks, I was always the one messing about and didn't care about classes. I skipped pretty much all of my last two years and I still aced my exams. I passed every single one that I was entered for with A-C grades.
I also said college sucked. I hardly put in any effort and still came out with qualifications in Computer Programming, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, and also in Floristry.
I also have a great many qualifications I studied outside of a classroom environment. Yet nothing, out of everything I have, is any aid in gaining me a job in any industry in the economy we have today.

(at least in my experience). Why do you think I added that?

I'm in a dilemma. I want to join another art school and spend all day long sketching and painting, but it's hard to manage all that with school projects and work. :(

But if I ignore art, I wouldn't be able to develop my skills as much as I can. :/

I simply outlined why your view isn't necessarily true, by sharing my experience with it. Much the same as you shared your opinion. I didn't attack you, so no need for taking that kind of tone.
Should I add smiley faces and sad faces to my posts in future so people don't get the wrong end of the stick? ;)

*facepalm* Didn't realize we could have tones on the internet. I simply stated why do you think I put that in. I wasn't "yelling" at you, I wasn't "mad" at you. I was simply stating that.

I have no idea what your job is, but you have to tell them you're going to school and you need a day or 2 off during the week to focus on school. Most jobs will say ok (unless you're already in an office job lol)

I'm in high school. I don't have a full time job as an artist, but I work as a freelance artist. :)

Schools which aren't aimed at arts tend to have really shit art facilities and oh my god it's all just so horrible, and you go nowhere... D:

I'm not a prankster and I don't think I've ever shown up late for class on purpose, but... schools could DEFINITELY be improved on :V Especially what's taught at schools and the teachers, and how they handle situations the student(s) are dealing with. I mean, if a student is having some sort of problem and that's affecting their schoolwork, or is getting bullied to the point of honestly committing suicide, I think you should actually get off your ass and do something about that rather than say "okay we'll look into it", then nothing happens. Almost all schools nowadays have these "no bullying" policies and truly believe no problems like that happen in their school :/
Plus, a lot of the things they teach you aren't... really going to help you get on with your life and be successful, unless you're going to have a career in that certain subject. Take maths for example, I like that subject but am I really going to need to know how to work out pythagoras theorem in my head if I'm going to be a translator? It's just to get an overall higher score and get higher up in the rankings and whatnot, to brag about how smart their students are for knowing useless bullshit they're never going to use. Here's a thing that's used frequently outside of school: cooking. How often is that even taught in school? It's fun, it's going to help you live, and it's not useless. Sex ed could be worked on as well, heh. Obviously not every school is the same (montessori schools are awesome <3), but in general a lot of things need a bit of tweaking.
Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense, I'm tired and I go on huge rants when I'm tired haahahah

    ^Couldn't agree more. :o

I work on small-medium projects for various companies. Sort of like a part time job at various places. Can't have a full time job at 15. :p

^not independently, but for various people instead of a permanent job. :) Of course the fee is lower than a regular job.

It is someone who creates artwork for a small fee, independently of any organization.
    Self-employed in a way :)

If that's the case you should have plenty of time to focus on school, but it's the problem of you just trying to get into the mood of focusing on it.

Yeah, grapes all I can recommend is get a nice portfolio together, then when you get out of high school, look for an art college :3 You don't need top grades in every subject ever to get accepted into them! They just need to know that you're actually an artist and you're going to do art-related work while you're there. Employers don't tend to like art degrees (since they're so "easy" to get), so don't totally neglect your studies and focus only on art <3 You'll probably just regret it down the road, unless you score a great job in a great company~

(A dream of mine is to go to Ringling~ Oh my god that place sounds fantastic and I've only heard of positive things come from it <3 It's a bit too far away and expensive for me though.... ;_; )

on and off XC runner here, trying to get back into shape,

I need advice on constructing a training schedule for 10k runs from experienced runners :x
Current life situation allows me to run every single day but once high school starts again, I definitely have to cut back (Junior year hardest year apparently)

I've done a lot of 5ks before and im looking to move up a step

I love my beats, perfect for what I need em for, though I knew I could get a cheaper set if I looked around.. money wasn't an issue when I bought them, time was.

I would alternate training days, some days do long runs, some days do shorter but more intense runs. Increase in distance when you feel it getting easier, and be sure to stretch a lot. I'd also suggest pilates/yoga.. for some reason when I started pilates I improved a lot at xc.. good luck! oh ps nutrution is important as well! lots of carbs before running

What I usually do is take the classes I hate online; most of the time, they're more 'dumbed down' than the classes in school :D well, at least in my experience they were. and I think students have the right to take the course for however long they want, as long as they finish before graduation.
I opted to take american history & economics online because I'm heading towards the science majors in college. if your area offers dual enrollment, take those classes too. they can cut down what requirements you need for graduation, freeing up your schedule & enabling you to take more art classes.

You can do freelance jobs as well. You really need to do things on your own and learn new things by yourself. That's what i'm trying to do with programming.

I'm in a dilemma. I want to join another art school and spend all day long sketching and painting, but it's hard to manage all that with school projects and work. :(

But if I ignore art, I wouldn't be able to develop my skills as much as I can. :/

Is it art for video games that you want to get into? I'm not really sure but from what I heard your qualifications mean very little to employers. It's more about your portfolio/skills so maybe focus on that.

Maybe check out polycount (I think) and ask there. I believe there is a lot of industry professionals on there talking about what it takes to get employed.

But for joing another art school, I probably wouldn't. I'd say just try and manage your time better, surely you can do your school work and still have plenty of time to develop skills.

I need some help. Has anyone ever dealt with an adult who refuses to act like an adult? My aunt is one of those people. Whenever she gets money she'll spend it on an ipod, or a cellphone, or the latest whatever instead of saving it. She doesn't have her own place she was living with my mom for 5 years rent free and she went to school to become a nurse but hasn't found a job since she was laid off 5 yrs ago. Her only income is unemployment and food stamps. Finally my mom got sick of her and kicked her out. She had a part time job where she was making $200 a week and still didn't manage to save any money to move out on her own. Instead of moving in with her parents and staying in LA (where she could at least keep the part time job) she quits her job and invites herself to move in with us.

I live with my cousin. Who's her daughter and I understand her not wanting her mom out on the street but this woman isn't doing ANYTHING to help herself. She applies and goes to interviews but doesn't follow up. She doesn't look for jobs outside of nursing. I asked if she wanted to go to the mall with me and job search she said no. My mom gave her her other car so she could be job hunting right now, instead she's on the couch sleeping and when she wakes up all she's going to do is watch tv and eat all day.

How the hell do I get her to actually get serious about finding a job? Like how do I get through to her because when I tell her something she doesn't want to hear she gets this blank stare on her face like im talking to a wall or something.

What Jakerz said, or just tell her it's time to her to start paying rent, or start paying for food every week. (food gets expensive...she'll take the rent)

I talked to my cousin about it and we decided if she doesn't get a job by the end of the month she's going to have to start paying rent. I just don't understand why anyone would be ok sleeping on someone's floor or on their couch. And they even GAVE HER A CAR. The whole situation makes me angry.

Had a similar situation (sorta) with an old friend/roommate. Had no problem finding a job once I brought up rent/utilities. I feel like that'd probably be your best bet since it is your aunt/cousin's mum rather than just kickin' her out. Just stick to your guns, though.

I think no matter what she should pay rent... living is pretty expensive and your letteing her use your electric, cable, ac and other utilities for free? If people keep giving into her she's not going to get a job and she probably feels like she can take advantage of the situation. I know someone who was jobless and couldn't afford rent and as soon they were going to be kicked out they found something right away.
Just remember her not having or finding a job shouldn't be your problem, it should be hers and she should be the one suffering the consequences.
